Job summary

Amazon is looking for a Program Manager to join the WW Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) team for Amazon Retail WW.

Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) is an environmental protection strategy that makes the manufacturer, producer or brand owner of a product, responsible for the entire life cycle of that product and specifically for the take-back, recycling and final disposal of that product. These regulatory policies attempt to shift the burden of recycling and waste management costs off local governments to private industry in hopes to provide incentives for private industry to decrease the total environmental impact, prevent waste at the source, and promote product design with the environment and sustainability objectives in mind. EPR at Amazon encompasses three broad categories:

- Product Take Back Requirements which commonly involve establishing either mandatory or voluntary recycling collection goals for specific products and materials.
- Ensuring Amazon meets government regulations with regards to environmental waste disposal based on the Amazon business model in a specified country or region.
- Supporting EPR initiatives by raising public awareness and encouraging public participation from consumers to properly dispose of or recycle certain product waste.

Key job responsibilities
- Oversee the improvement of EPR programs and requirements to achieve environmental compliance globally.
- Assist Senior Program Managers on implementing global Electronic, Batteries and Packaging recycling programs as well as other EPR programs relevant the different geographies and manage cross-functional projects to respond to new environmental requirements.
- Drive automation projects, data integrity enhancement, interact with Business Intelligence Engineers (BIE) and tech teams.
- Interact with multiple stakeholders including Government Agencies and contracted Vendors or Consultants to communicate on operations and represent data/metrics information and project
- Work across time zones, with global teams to identify and prioritize regulatory requirements.

A day in the life

As the Program Manager EPR programs, you will coordinate the aspects of product transactions that are regulated (shipping, importing, recycling, etc.). This involves working cross functionally across internal Amazon teams and government agencies to expand and improve programs to respond and fulfill environmental requirements across multiple jurisdictions.

In this role, you will own: continuous improvement, governance over current operations, cross-functional work with operations, tech, business and legal teams, driving the EPR WW audits, financial, stakeholder management and regulatory assessment strategies, metrics and KPIs, corrective and preventive action plans, etc.
- Master’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Business Administration, General Management, Compliance or related fields
- Experience in regulatory compliance management with government agencies
- Advanced Excel Skills (complex formulas, VBA) and SQL
- Experience in Finance/Procurement (budgeting, cost tracking)
- Strong drive to question the status quo and learn new topics and skills
