**Context**:
ArcelorMittal is engaged in a very ambitious and challenging Decarbonisation target to reach net zero in 2025. Intermediate objectives have been set in 2030, -25% at group level and -35% at Europe level and will be reached thru an unprecedented steelmaking transition.
This upheaval requires a brand-new approach to the overall supply chain that will be completely transformed, especially for renewable energy, decarbonized hydrogen, green DRI (Direct Reduced Iron) and CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage).
The spearhead of this transformation is the newly created Decarbonisation Partnerships & JVs.
In coordination with Operations, Government Affairs, Procurement, M&A, the objective is to both fulfil ArcelorMittal decarbonisation targets and initiate vertical integration.
Within Europe-Flat organisation, with a Group mandate, Decarbonisation Partnerships & JVs has the mission to create, implement and develop JVs:
- In each of 4 businesses: Renewable Energy, Decarbonized Hydrogen, Green DRI & CCS
- To foster innovative solutions and cross-fertilize
- Manage & Develop JVs from their initial business scope
To fulfill its ambition, ArcelorMittal is looking for a **_CCS Business Developer. _**
CCS value chain to be developed is composed of:
0) after CO2 capture on site
1) on-shore transport from plant gate to CO2 gathering hub
2) CO2 gathering hub and export terminal
3) main transport until final storage
4) import terminal
5) final permanent storage
**Missions**:
**Project development**:
- Work with AM plants and external partners/suppliers on the development of projects of Transport and Storage of CO2
- Lead developments with supplier/partners (meetings, relationship, etc.)
- Analyze proposals: Assess, review and propose partnership projects
- Build MoU to define the project, takes, timeline, governance, etc.
- Lead and follow the developments
- Prioritize the projects-partners.
- In interaction with other project developers, evaluate the best technical-economical solutions for each plant and give recommendations to fulfil plant’s CCS needs.
- Develop business models required and potential Special Vehicles such as Joint Ventures when relevant, etc.
- Ensure, once a strategic partnership or JV formed, business plan achievement and develop the company with partners when relevant
- Set up & run proper team and governance with internal stakeholders to drive and ensure coordination (CTO, Shipping Finance, M&A, Operations, Purchasing, etc.)
- Ensure that JVs compliance fulfils all AM requirements
- First project developments focused on France, Belgium (Flanders) and Germany
**Analysis**:
- Develop a thorough knowledge/analysis of the Carbon Capture, Transport and Storage value chain: technical, economical, reglementary, CCS market under development, with the objective to have a full view including Total Cost of Ownership approach and assess impact of any choices of the value chain on the whole value chain
- Identify roadblocks in the developments
- Study new opportunities, analyses/recommendation for decision making
- Analyze supplier/partner’s strategy for the future,
- Understand competitors/other industry strategy and follow up,
- Understand and identify gaps or lacks in regulations or European directives for carbon hubs, transport and sequestration of CO2
**Other activities**:
- Support development of the group strategy on CCS
- Support lobby/actions with external stakeholders, governments, etc.Involved in the team activity
**Geographical scope of mission**:
The position is based in Luxembourg and reports to CCS Business Head. Travels at European level required as per business needs. Non-European travels more occasional.
**Profile**:
- Master’s degree in Business/Finance, Business Management, Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum professional experience of 8-15 years, with a successful business development and/or experience in economics of projects, experience and implementation of complex JV/legal vehicles
- Experience/knowledge on any part of the CCS value chain or related regulation would be an important asset but not a must have
- Experience in oil & gas will be considered as a strong asset
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to navigate in a multicultural, international environment and develop solid relationships with different parties
- Excellent organization and high level of autonomy
- Committed to meeting deadlines
- Team player with an entrepreneurial mindset
- Results-oriented
- Fluent in English; French, Dutch, and other European languages are considered as an asset
