We are seeking, on behalf of a leading pan-European financial institution specialized in credit management and debt acquisition, a highly qualified Senior Legal Counsel with extensive Non-Performing Loan (NPL) and transactional experience for their Luxembourg office.

The Role: Strategic Legal Counsel & Transaction Focus

This senior role involves working autonomously in an international team as the primary legal advisor for the Luxembourg entity , with a strong focus on complex transactions.

Key Responsibilities and Work Tasks:

  • NPL & Transactional Focus: Advising on legal matters related to portfolio acquisitions , M&A projects , and other relevant projects/transactions. Experience within the NPL field (NPL transactions and/or NPL management) is required.
  • General Counsel: Advising on general legal matters under Luxembourg law , including contract law, general company law, and corporate governance.
  • Documentation & Negotiation: Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements and other legal documentation (NDAs, transaction documents, term sheets, etc.) on a continuous basis.
  • Governance & Reporting: Preparing summaries of legal implications for Luxembourg transactions to be presented to the Investment Committee, the Board, and the Board Investment and Credit Committee.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Cooperating continuously with Group Legal, the investment team, local operations, and other relevant functions. You will advise the Management Team (MT) on improvements and legal matters.
  • External Management: Appointing and monitoring external legal advisors when necessary.

Key Requirements and Profile

  • Education: University degree in law.
  • Experience: Minimum five years of relevant working experience. Preferably transaction experience from a law firm, or in-house experience from an asset manager or debt collection business.
  • Sector Specific: Experience within the NPL field (NPL transactions and/or NPL management) is required.
  • Legal Knowledge: Strong knowledge of Luxembourg law and experience relating to contract law, banking and finance, and M&A.
  • Skills: Business-minded and devoted , thorough and organised , with high integrity and good collaboration and communication skills.
  • Languages: Fluent in English is mandatory. French is considered a significant plus.
