Head of Team Legal Europe

Corporate Functions includes the Group's non-banking activities and employs more than 600 people. These functions are carried out by specialists with expertise across all business units, and include Communications, Compliance, Finance, Human Resources, Information Security, Internal Audit, Legal, Organisation & Digital, Risk and Tax departments.

The scope of the role is to lead the legal team providing legal support to the Pictet Asset Services, Pictet Trading & Sales, and Operations divisions, in relation to the activities of Bank Pictet & Cie (Europe) AG ("BPAG") as a depositary bank and trading broker, as well as FundPartner Solutions (Europe) SA ("FPS") as a fund management company, both of which are Pictet Group companies.

• Be the head of the legal team acting as primary contact for any legal questions in relation with services and operations of the depositary bank and the trading broker divisions of BPAG as well as FPS as fund management company, towards investment funds (mainly Luxembourg and Cayman based), fund managers, external asset managers and institutional clients (all together the "Clients") in Luxembourg and in other branches of BPAG (e.g. Frankfurt, London, Monaco, Paris)  and mainly :
  • draft, review and amend the legal documentation governing the relationships between BPAG, FPS and the Clients.
  • provide legal support in handling specific requests or situations from Clients.
  • give legal advice on the role and responsibilities of the depositary bank, the investment fund management company and the trading broker in relation to new or existing services.
  • carry out regulatory oversight and analysis of new laws and regulations to manage their impact on BPAG, FPS and Clients, and help to implement them within the business line.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards in Europe. Stay updated on changes in legal requirements and communicate their implications to internal teams. Collaborate with Compliance and Regulatory Affairs teams to address compliance-related issues. 
• Identify and assess legal risks in Europe and develop risk mitigation strategies. Collaborate with risk management teams to ensure effective risk management practices are in place. Provide guidance on legal and risk-related matters to support business operations.
• Engage and collaborate with internal stakeholders in Luxembourg and in other European branches of BPAG as well as within the Pictet Group mainly in Geneva, Zurich and Asia, including senior management, business units, and cross-functional teams, to provide legal support and guidance. Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, such as external counsel, regulatory authorities, and industry associations.
• Conduct legal research and analysis on relevant legal issues and developments impacting the organization in Europe. Stay informed about changes in laws, regulations, and industry trends. Provide recommendations and insights to senior management and stakeholders.
• Manage legal disputes and litigation matters in Europe. Collaborate with external counsel to develop legal strategies and represent the organization's interests. Support alternative dispute resolution methods, such as mediation or arbitration, when appropriate.
• Promote and uphold ethical standards and compliance within the legal team and the organization. Ensure adherence to the organization's code of conduct and ethical guidelines.

• 10-15 years experience in management of in-house legal teams.
• Masters degree in Law, Finance or Economics
• Fluent in French, English, German is a plus.
• Excellent knowledge of the banking and investment fund industryies and its their regulatory and financial frameworks, as well as of the stakeholders and processes involved in asset servicing and trading activities.
• Expert knowledge of the regulatory provisions applicable to credit institutions and management companies (UCITS V, AIFMD, MIFID, MIFIR, EMIR, etc.).
• In-depth knowledge of European laws and regulations applicable to the organization's industry.
• Strong business acumen and understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines and Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities, with the capacity to motivate and guide teams.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Demonstrates awareness and a proactive mindset in adopting new technologies, including AI tools.
