Education/Experience

  • Master's degree or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Having 6+ years of experience in space systems engineering or spacecraft bus engineering.
  • Possessing strong knowledge of spacecraft bus systems (power, thermal, structure, avionics, propulsion, GNC, data handling, TTC).
  • Gaining experience working with a spacecraft bus supplier and within an AIT environment.
  • Demonstrating good knowledge of space product and quality assurance processes.

  • Exhibiting excellent communication skills.
  • Displaying persuasive and diplomatic communication to inspire collaboration and drive collective goal achievement.
  • Being highly organised, capable of tracking multiple streams of critical activities at once.
  • Showing project/execution orientation: driving initiatives and handling schedule/criticality.
  • Applying knowledge of ECSS standards in supplier oversight.
  • Being willing to travel (e.g., supplier visits).
  • Using English at work-fluent level; German or French is a plus.

Duties

  • Providing technical assessment related to platform units and subsystem definition and development, including requirements, analyses, trade-offs, budgets, validation and tests.
  • Identifying, assessing and mitigating technical risks associated with the spacecraft bus, and developing contingency plans.
  • Reviewing supplier technical data packages for spacecraft platform units, subsystems and system.
  • Leading and participating in design and test reviews (EQSR, PDR, CDR, MRR, TRR, TRB) to ensure the bus design meets requirements and is production-ready.
  • Defining and coordinating engineering support activities at system level for all aspects of the satellite bus.
  • Monitoring and controlling interfaces between satellite subsystems (bus/platform) and other mission segments.
  • Ensuring compliance with system-level requirements and ECSS standards.
  • Contributing to IRIS² programme main milestones.
