- The IT for Innovative Services (ITIS) department, with its 100 researchers and engineers, focuses on the digital transformation of operations in organizations with traditional environments and digital ecosystems, with the aim of improving their performance and innovation capacity. The common thread throughout ITIS is to develop the most efficient use of big data to ensure the most appropriate decision-making processes.
- The department relies on the Data Analytics Platform: a hybrid infrastructure covering the entire range of data analytics activities. The platform is based on three pillars: a high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure, a cognitive analytics pillar and an interactive visualization wall (Viswall).

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

**How will you contribute?**:
In this context, you will be responsible for:

- Relying on simulation tools to realistically reproduce mobility and communication network patterns in several areas in Luxembourg.
- Propose and validate AI approaches to estimate and predict user demand in these areas as well as potentially available transport modes, based on existing databases or others collected from sensors deployed in the field.
- Propose and validate optimisation algorithms to coordinate different modes of transport between them and also the communication networks supporting data collection.
- Finally, you will be in charge of disseminating and promoting the research activities that will be carried out, whether through publications, patents, prototype development or technical reports. This can potentially be done through a PhD research work.

**MUST HAVE**
**REQUIREMENTS**

**Education**
- You hold a PhD in mobility and transportation.

**Technical skills**
- Mastering of mobility simulation tools, including for instance Eclipse SUMO or MatSim or any similar simulation software.
- Background in Intelligent Transport Systems.
- Background in machine learning (both exact algorithms and metaheuristics) and combinatorial optimization.
- Knowledge in communication networks and experience in VANETs are considered as an advantage.
- Experience in engineering optimization will be considered as an advantage.
- Programming skills (Python/R/MATLAB/C/C++/Java) are considered as an advantage.
- Challenge and results-oriented mind-set.
- Capacity to generate new ideas, concepts, and solutions.
- Ability to collaborate within an interdisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication skills (oral, written, presentation).

**Language skills**
- Fluency in English is mandatory
