About the Role:

- The Compliance Business Partner will work with the GRS Europe, UK and Mena Compliance Function (the Compliance Function) in supporting LSM’s Europe Underwriting and the LM Surety Europe Underwriting businesses to execute their strategic targets and plans. You will act as a 'trusted advisor' to the business, working together to find compliant commercial solutions which maximise corporate performance and minimise financial, regulatory or reputational risk.

- The GRSI Compliance Function is a key part of LSM's and LM Surety’s internal control framework predominantly within the second line of defence. The role and responsibilities of the Compliance Function includes:

- Establishing an open and constructive relationship with LSM’s and LM Surety’s European regulators (and supervisory bodies). Coordinating and managing this relationship with including, but not limited to, the Commissariat aux Assurances, the AFM (Luxembourg), ACPR (France) and BAFIN (Germany).
- Providing advice to the LSM Europe and LM Surety Executive and governing bodies on compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and providing advice to the business, for example in the form of policies and procedures or written updates, in relation to applicable laws and regulations.
- Assessing the possible impact of any regulatory development on the operations of the business and working with the business with regard to compliance.
- The identification and assessment of compliance risk, and the development and oversight of an appropriate framework to ensure the management of compliance risk.
- Such a framework will include assessing the adequacy of the measures adopted by the business to prevent non-compliance including monitoring to ensure these procedures are being adhered to.
- Ensuring that the Compliance Function’s Strategy is in line with its broader strategic objectives. Working with the business to assess new opportunities and ensuring appropriate control frameworks are established.
- Working closely with Liberty Mutual Group Global Compliance & Ethics to ensure that the Compliance Function’s framework is consistent with the framework in place for the Liberty Mutual Group.Reporting to the LSM and LM Surety governing bodies in relation to the management of compliance risk including the provision of all relevant management information to allow key decision making to be undertaken.- Key Responsibilities:

- Stay closely connected with other Regional Compliance Managers and central compliance team members to ensure professional standards are maintained, effective knowledge management and reporting to enable a consolidated and consistent approach to ethics and compliance.
- Identify when to call upon GC&E specialist resource (e.g. anti-bribery and corruption, sanctions etc.) to help support tasks for our LSM European and LM Surety European business.
- Design & provide compliance training and communications to LSM Europe’s and LM Surety Europe’s Underwriting teams ensuring the best method of delivery to achieve the desired outcome(s)
- Investigate compliance matters that impact underwriting and find suitable resolution.
- Identify and implement process improvements to make compliance function more efficiently.
- Work with the LSM Europe and LM Surety Europe Underwriting teams to provide guidance on the compliance framework, policies and procedures and guide the business to identify, assess and manage compliance risks.
- Provide constructive challenge to underwriting plans of the relevant functions and provide supportive solutions aimed at managing compliance within those functions
- Coordinate and respond to a wide range of complex enquiries, ensuring that the information provided is clearly understood by the business.
- Maintain excellent relationships with internal stakeholders to aid the efficient and productive working relationship with risk management and other business functions.
- Provide compliance oversight and reporting, including input to the Legal Entity Risk Committees, to the Compliance Function's senior management, and the senior management teams of the LSM Europe London and LM Surety Europe Underwriting teams.
- Assist with the delivery of compliance work including scheduled and ad hoc strategic projects to develop and implement an effective framework supported by risk-based policies and procedures.
