The Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE) brings together expertise from the humanities, linguistics, cognitive sciences, social sciences, and educational sciences. Scholars from across 20 disciplines are working within the Faculty. Along with disciplinary approaches, a very ambitious interdisciplinary research culture has been developed.

The Faculty’s research and teaching focuses on social, economic, political and educational issues with the common goal of contributing to an inclusive, open and resourceful society. The FHSE offers seven Bachelor’s and twenty Master’s degrees and hosts a doctoral school providing students with the necessary knowledge and high-qualified skills to succeed in their future careers.

**About the role...**:
The Department of Humanities within the Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences is seeking a leading academic to join its team as Associate Professor (promotion track) or Full Professor in English Linguistics.
- Establish and develop a research strand on World Englishes in cooperation with researchers from related institutes in the Department of Humanities and from international institutions
- Take on academic leadership positions at the level of the study programme, the Department, and the Faculty
- Teaching areas:_
- Bachelor in European Cultures - English Studies: core courses, electives, lectures, methods seminar on topics such as varieties of English, Language Variation and Change, English in Europe and the World, digital methods in language learning, Discourse Analysis, Research methods
- Bachelor in European Cultures - Common Curriculum in European Cultures: (contribution) to courses addressing the dimension of English in different geopolitical and intercultural contexts

**Your profile...**:

- Ph.D. degree in English linguistics
- At least 5 years of postdoctoral experience acquired in a university or comparable research centre
- An appropriate international research profile as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, conference participation, and collaboration in international research initiatives
- Demonstrated capability to attract competitive third-party research funding
- Excellent track record with a focus on language variation and change, and World Englishes
- University-level teaching experience at the undergraduate and the postgraduate level
- Teaching experience in linguistics
- Willingness to engage in teamwork in teaching and research groups
- Ability to work autonomously
- Ability to work in a multilingual environment

- Contract Type: Academic - Permanent. This position is offered at the Full Professor or Associate Professor level, depending on qualification. Both positions are tenured. At the Associate Professor level, promotion to Full Professor is possible after 5 years upon positive evaluation
