**How will you contribute?**:
**Context**

You will join the Environmental Sustainability Assessment and Circularity (SUSTAIN) Unit, developing knowledge, methods, transferable software, for the simulation and comprehensive sustainability assessment of socio-economic systems. Its purpose is to foster sustainable eco-innovation, through products and technologies, as well as support sustainability-oriented policy implementation and behavioural change to promote decarbonisation transitions.

Within the SUSTAIN Unit, you will join the Sustainable Urban and Built Environment (SUBE) research group. The activities conducted within the SUBE group tackle the whole life-cycle of built assets (i.e. Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Operations).

They mainly consist in the formulation, development and deployment of data-driven methods and tools supporting the transition of construction sector towards low-carbon and sustainable built environments (incl. districts and cities), with a strong focus on the digitalisation of processes and information flows (incl. handling Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Digital Twins).

**Description**

We are looking for an expert engineer to join the team, contribute to both the formulation and implementation of innovative computer-based systems, and reinforce our capabilities to handle IT-focused projects.

These developments rely on well recognised industry data standards such as IFC, OGC Standards, GeoJSON, CityGML. The information systems are developed using standard database systems, as well as Graph databases, and mainly rely on vue.js for web front-end development.

**Education Background**: Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

**Technical Skills**

**MUST HAVE**
- Familiarity with fundamental frontend languages such as HTML, CSS, Javascript/Typescript.
- Familiarity with Javascript frameworks such as Vue.js, Angular, React and Ember.
- Proven track of interface design (mobile, tangible interfaces), capture of business requirement, writing of specification.
- Proficiency with server-side languages such as Node.js, Java, C#,.NET with knowledge of.NET Core frameworks.
- Unit testing, continuous integration.
- Good understanding of database design and management (incl. relational, timeseries and triple store).
- Very good knowledge of remote API engineering (RESTful, HTTP protocols, web server configuration, etc).
- Knowledge of setting up and configuring virtual machines and docker containers.

**OTHER SKILLS**
- Knowledge in Graph Databases and Ontologies would be an asset
- Specific knowledge in Building Information Models handling would be an asset: models repositories databases, 3D visualization engines such as Ceesium, ThreeJS including web-based systems
- Specific knowledge in Geographical Information Systems would be an asset (OGC standards like WMS, WCS, WFS, SensorThings, use of mapping server like Mapserver and GeoServer) and 3dtiles
- Knowledge in mathematical modeling tools (Matlab/Octave, SciPy, R) and machine learning would be an asset.
- Familiarity with IoT protocols would be an asset, such as MQTT, CoAP, Web Sockets, etc
- Proven organizational skills and interdisciplinary thinking, a problem-solving mind-set, and a strong team-working capability, but is also able to work in autonomy and creatively.

**Language skills**

Flawless knowledge of English (both spoken and written) is required.

Knowledge of German and/or French and/or Luxembourgish is considered as an asset.
