Amazon’s Disaster Recovery & Investigations (DRI) team is seeking a Crisis Risk Manager to develop and standardize protocols and response to disasters affecting Amazon Operations in the European (EU) region, including leading cross-functional teams to execute on those protocols during disaster incidents. Due to the nature of the role in supporting Amazon facilities facing the aftermath of a disaster, this role will be based out of Luxembourg and must be able to travel on short notice. The person in this role will participate in on-call rotations (including after hours, weekends and holidays) for emergency response support. The role requires travel up to 40% of the time throughout the EU region with travel to the United States occasionally.

This role will be a key part of the DRI team within Amazon Global Realty, providing both tactical and strategic support with a focus on identifying mechanisms and protocols for the continued integration with existing response organizations across WW Operations. In this role you will partner with the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) as well as existing site and regional Incident Management Teams (IMT) in the early triage of an incident, and will facilitate DRI team activations when necessary, including identification and deployment of vendor resources. You will be a key member in identifying downstream partners who need prompt notification and response to disaster incidents, including WW Asset Management, Risk Management, and Legal. You will also lead cross-organization crisis and recovery calls during active disasters and area-wide events across Europe. This role will also virtually support DRI operations in the United States on a rotational as-needed basis.

Key job responsibilities
- Represent DRI during initial phases of an incident.
- Make quick, high level decisions to determine DRI’s level of engagement.
- Lead initial phases ( of an incident by facilitating recovery calls with Site Leadership and Regional Support Stakeholders.
- Monitor ongoing weather and guide teams in pre-emptive actions for imminent threats to a facility. When necessary establish a field-based command center for centralized disaster coordination on area-wide events (floods, large storms, earthquakes).
- Collaborate with Procurement, RME and Asset Management in dispatch of rapid response vendors including structural engineers, restoration vendors, and similar. This includes creating Purchase Orders (POs) and managing vendor performances and finances.
- Lead cross-department after-action-reviews (AARs) on-site, focused on process improvements.
- Participate in on-call rotations (including after hours, weekends and holidays) for emergency response support to operational leadership, including travel up to 40% of the time within region.
- Evaluate and onboard new vendors, including remediation vendors, general contractors, engineers and similar. Manage ongoing vendor relationships, including quarterly stewardship meetings, regular performance audits, and solicitation/sharing of customer feedback, to drive performance improvement.
- Develop policies, plans, and methods for managing the physical response, repair, and recovery of disaster incidents, with a focus on the preplanning and early triage phases of a disaster.
- Develop and identify pre-planning materials with GBCM (wildfire, hurricane, snow storm) to share with sites on pre-preparedness efforts
- Lead process improvement projects incorporating Amazon’s Disaster Recovery phased approach and align with existing business continuity and emergency response plans.
- Participate as a stakeholder reviewer of emergency response plans, and similar self-service tools for site leaders to effectively triage disaster events and coordinate with the broader disaster recovery jump-team.
