**Brief description**:
The Upper School Social and Emotional Counsellor is a resource person for students, teachers and parents within the school. The Upper School Social and Emotional Counsellor is the person to whom concerns related to child development, behaviour, relationships within the family, the school and the larger community should be addressed.
We are keen to attract applicants from diverse backgrounds, particularly those whose nationality, identity, gender or race is currently under-represented in international education.
ISL is committed to safeguarding and prioritising the wellbeing of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.
**Profile**:
- Training and experience in educational psychology, counselling and diagnostic testing;
- Experience and expertise with supporting students with behavioural disorders or who present disruptive behaviour;
- At least two years’ successful similar experience in an international school setting;
- Experience outside of a national curriculum/approach, experience with various international school curricula preferred;
- Bachelor’s or Master's Degree or equivalent in an appropriate field of study;
- Familiarity with and understanding of recent developments in secondary education;
- Ability to converse fluently in English; other languages a benefit.
- Experienced in working in a collaborative teaching environment;
- Technologically competent in digital resources and programmes (e.g.: Atlas Rubicon)
- Office 365, Schoology, Google suite)
- Understanding of and experience with teaching students who are English Language Learners.

The International School of Luxembourg (ISL) is an independent, non-profit, day school situated in the city of Luxembourg, capital of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
Founded in 1963, ISL has been an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School since 1995, offering both the IB Diploma Programme (DP) and the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). The school is currently working towards accreditation for the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP).
ISL has two sections: the Lower School, and the Upper School, the latter comprising of Middle School and High School. Total school enrolment is approximately 1,350 students, aged 3-18 years. The ISL student body represents more than 60 nationalities, with 70% of students coming from extended Europe.
**Working at ISL**
We want to recruit and retain superlative professionals in order to bring to life the best of international education. The quality of our educational programme can only be as high as the quality of our staff.
The school is fortunate to employ around 300 outstanding teachers, support staff and administrators.
Our faculty and staff come from more than two dozen different countries. Their international background and experience contribute to a learning environment that responds to the students' cultural diversity and meets the needs of an international student population.
ISL educators are trained and certified in their respective fields and more than half of them hold Masters' degrees. Our faculty and staff average 18 years of experience in education with eight of them at ISL. Some teachers come to Luxembourg for just a few years and then move on to new positions elsewhere. Others remain at ISL for much of their career: 12% of the teaching staff has served the school for 20 years or more. In recent years ISL has created a number of new positions in response to increasing enrolment, however staff turnover is actually rather low.
