We have an excellent opportunity for a Distributor Governance & Oversight Analyst to join us, reporting to the Head of Distributor Governance & Oversight. This is a permanent role and can be based in Luxembourg or Edinburgh.

About the department

The team’s key focus is distributor due diligence and ongoing monitoring, working closely with the Client AML Onboarding team which focuses on the KYC aspects of the distributor relationships. Both teams are part of abrdn’s “first line of defence” within the wider Client AML and Governance department.

About the Role

The Distributor Governance & Oversight Analyst is responsible for abrdn Investments Vector Global Distributor Governance.
- Conduct proportional, risk-based due diligence and oversight of distributors at onboarding and on an ongoing basis for the duration of each distributor relationship in line with current regulatory landscape (including CSSF circular 18/698 in Luxembourg and FCA Product Governance & Consumer Duty rules in the UK)
- Liaise with distributors to obtain distributor due diligence questionnaire and key performance indicator data, analyse and report on findings
- Organise, participate in and, where required, lead site visits to distributors
- Build and maintain relationships with, and coordinate amongst, other stakeholder teams to support the DG&O process - in particular the Distribution function and representatives of intragroup legal entities.
- Liaise with Product Governance colleagues to ensure abrdn IV processes around Distributor and Product Governance are appropriately discharged, including regular product ‘compatibility’ reviews, propriety of distribution strategy and the reporting of sales outwith the target market
- Assist the Head of DG&O with team procedure by maintaining and enhancing on an ongoing basis the global Distributor Governance & Oversight Process in line with current abrdn IV policies and procedures and the regulatory landscape
- Assist the Head of DG&O with reporting responsibilities by organising, drafting and, where required, presenting regular reporting on DG&O activity to abrdn IV senior management, Legal Entity forums and Boards and external forums

Qualifications / Experience
- Proven regulatory and industry awareness, together with a passion for appropriate Distribution practices aligned to client outcomes
- Appreciation of fund regulations and compliance issues
- Experience of interacting at a senior level and/or working on projects within a financial services organisation will be an advantage
- Fluent in English, other language skills will be an advantage
