The Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM) at the University of Luxembourg contributes multidisciplinary expertise in the fields of Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences and Medicine.
Through its dual mission of teaching and research, the FSTM seeks to generate and disseminate knowledge and train new generations of responsible citizens in order to better understand, explain and advance society and environment we live in.
**Your role**:
- Research in statistical modelling of complex data, more precisely in one or more of the following topics: flexible probability distributions, (interpretable) machine learning, statistically enhanced learning, directional statistics
- Research dissemination at international conferences
- Teaching activity of up to 2-4 hours per week
- Active participation in and support of the organization of the activities of the research group Team MIDAS and of DMATH

**Your profile**:
- PhD (not dating back more than 5 years) of high quality, ideally in Statistics
- Research experience in at least one of the following topics: mathematical statistics, statistical modelling, statistical learning. Knowledge of directional statistics is considered a plus
- Interest in interdisciplinary work, especially in biomedical research, is an asset
- Experience in programming languages such as Python or R
- Autonomous worker with good organizational and analytic skills
- Very good written and oral skills in English
- Capacity to integrate into a team and collaborate with its members, in particular with the PhD student hired on the same grant
