Head of Depositary Private Asset Safekeeping

- With a view to developing its business, the Pictet Group is seeking to recruit a
- **Head of Depositary Private Asset Safekeeping**.- In this position, you will lead the team responsible for the administrative handling of private equity/debt and real estate investments made by alternative investment funds, with the aim of ensuring that all depositary safekeeping, settlement and banking duties are carried out and complied with. You will be the contact person for clients (either AIFMs or their delegated investment managers) for operational depositary matters.**Your role**:

- On-boarding and client service:
- Contributing to organising and coordinating the depositary asset safekeeping aspects of onboarding new AIFs.
- Taking part in depositary feasibility/compliance assessments of new projects as an expert in the private asset classes.
- Liaising with clients for all operational matters relating to their investments, escalating unsolved issues internally to the Depositary Oversight team.
- Investment processing:
- Processing transactions based on accurate and complete documentation and according to depositary asset safekeeping standards.
- Performing and documenting the look through analysis for direct investments characterised by a chain of ownership via intermediary structures up to the underlying assets.
- Performing the recordkeeping of assets in the depositary system, issuing payment instructions to the dedicated team and undertaking the usual prior banking checks.
- Supervising investments during their life cycle and ensuring the proper processing of the economic benefits of transactions flowing back to funds.
- Providing ownership verification status to the Depositary Oversight team in charge of producing UCI asset inventories and depositary reports to the UCI Management Bodies and/or Auditors.
- Control framework:
- Identifying and implementing the depositary best practices relating to the safekeeping of private assets (including taking part in the industry’s initiatives to clarify them)
- Establishing safekeeping procedures with AIFMs (as prescribed by depositary regulations).
- Performing due diligence on third parties involved in the safekeeping of assets (mainly AIFMs) along with the Depositary Oversight team.

**Your profile**:

- University degree in Finance, Economics, Law or Management.
- Four to six years’ experience in a similar position or in depositary operations.
- Strong understanding of Luxembourg depositary/fund regulations and best practices.
- In-depth knowledge of alternative products/strategies, in particular private equity/debt and real estate investments.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with both peers and external stakeholders, including clients and regulators.
- Organised and precise in all aspects of your work.
- Flexibility, together with the capacity to adapt to and manage the unexpected.
- Ability to work both in a team and autonomously.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Fluent in English and French; working knowledge of another EU language would be an asset.
- Proficient user of the MS Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- eFront/Avaloq experience would be an asset.
