The **Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences** (FHSE) brings together expertise from the humanities, linguistics, cognitive sciences, social and educational sciences. People from across 20 disciplines are working within the Faculty. Along with the **disciplinary** approach a very ambitious interdisciplinary research culture has been developed.
The faculty’s research and teaching focuses on **social, economic, political **and** educational** issues with the common goal of contributing to an inclusive, open and resourceful society. The FHSE offers six Bachelor and twenty Master degrees and a doctoral school providing students with the necessary knowledge and high-qualified skills to succeed in their future career.
**Your Role...**
The Ph.D. student will be part of a dynamic team of researchers working on a large-scale mixed-methods project on youth and digitalisation, focusing on life chances and inequalities in the digital society. The main task will be to produce a Ph.D. thesis in the field of digitalisation and life chances mainly based on qualitative interviews with young people. The Ph.D. student will contribute to the Luxembourg Youth Report and participate in policy-relevant analysis and knowledge sharing with stakeholders.
The Ph.D. student will join the _Youth Research Group_ within the _Centre for Childhood and Youth Research (CCY)_ at the _Department of Social Sciences_. The CCY consists of a multidisciplinary research team that investigates the conditions and opportunity structures of growing up against the background of social change and inequalities. It maintains close links with other institutes and relevant organisations within and outside the university, both nationally and internationally.
**Tasks**
- Prepare a cumulative Ph.D. thesis in the domain of digitalization and life chances among young people (mainly based on qualitative interviews with young people)
- Participate in national and international conferences
- Contribute to Luxembourg Youth Report and other research publications
- Engage in policy-relevant analyses and dissemination of results to stakeholders
**What we expect from you**
- Master diploma, M.A. in sociology or another relevant discipline
- Experience in conducting qualitative interviews
- Experience in analysing qualitative interviews using software
- Strong interest in policy-relevant research
- Willingness to engage in teamwork in research groups
- Excellent command of at least two of the following languages: English, French, German (written and spoken); Luxembourgish is considered an asset
