The **Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences** (FHSE) brings together expertise from the humanities, linguistics, cognitive sciences, social and educational sciences. People from across 20 disciplines are working within the Faculty. Along with the **disciplinary** approach a very ambitious interdisciplinary research culture has been developed.
The faculty’s research and teaching focuses on **social, economic, political **and** educational** issues with the common goal of contributing to an inclusive, open and resourceful society. The FHSE offers six Bachelor and twenty Master degrees and a doctoral school providing students with the necessary knowledge and high-qualified skills to succeed in their future career.
**Your Role...**:
The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for conducting competitive research in the field of quantitative social sciences, with a particular emphasis on the topics of stratification, inequality, and population studies. This position requires a high level of proficiency in statistical tools, specifically in Stata. The postdoctoral researcher will be a member of the Institute for Research on Socio-Economic Inequality (IRSEI), which is a part of the Department of Social Sciences within the Faculty of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences at the University of Luxembourg.
The research conducted at IRSEI, which was established through a research excellence program (PEARL) funded by the Fonds National de la Recherche Luxembourg (FNR), is focused on comparative stratification research projects in the sociology of inequalities, population dynamics, social cohesion, and inequalities. Our primary research directions include the intensification of economic inequalities in income and wealth, the emergence of new social cleavages, and transformations of age groups and birth cohorts.
**Tasks and mission**:
- Developing research and projects focused on the comparative sociology of inequality, stratification, and social change
- Publishing their research findings in high-visibility international peer-reviewed journals
- Disseminating results through workshops, and conferences
**What we expect from you**:
- Strong experience in advanced quantitative research, with a preference for Stata, is mandatory
- Possession of a Doctoral Degree in the social sciences is required
- Evidence of publications in competitive academic journals is required
- A focus on domains of stratification, social change, and population dynamics is preferred
- Excellent communication skills are required to support the supervision of students
- An excellent level of proficiency in English is required, while French language skills would be a useful asset
