Through its research into advanced materials and processes, the “Materials Research and Technology” (MRT) department, with its 200 researchers and engineers, contributes to the emergence of enabling technologies that underpin the innovation processes of local and international industry. MRT’s activities hinge on four thematic pillars: nanomaterials and nanotechnology, scientific instrumentation and process technology, structural composites, and functional polymers.

The department also includes four high-tech platforms, focusing on composites, prototyping, characterization and testing. These platforms serve both LIST research staff, and other stakeholders in Luxembourg.

**Responsibilities**:
**How will you contribute?**:
You will be mainly focusing on:

- Optimization of the plasma deposition parameters for the polymerization of the bio-based monomers synthesized by the project partners as well as the different formulation of bio-based monomers and sustainable additives of particle or filers;
- Testing several formulations of particles/filters and bio-based monomers with different concentrations;
- Physico-chemical characterization of the composite coatings, e.g. FTIR, mass spectrometry, SEM, scratch test, wettability, etc.;
- Assessing the antimicrobial, mechanical and technological properties of the new composite coatings in collaboration with the project partners within LIST and in Austria



Must Have Requirements
**Education**
- You are currently completing a master’s degree (or equivalent) in Polymer Science, Chemistry, Material Science or related fields.

**Experience and skills**
- Prior research experience in the field of polymer chemistry, composite polymers, composite coatings, or thin films would be an asset.

**Language skills**
- Written and spoken proficiency in English. French is considered as an asset.
