The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) is a Research and Technology Organization (RTO) active in the fields of materials, environment, and IT. **How will you contribute?**:
Global warming and energy crisis are pushing the society to develop alternative technologies to fossil fuels. Renewable hydrogen has been identified as one of the key future green technologies. As hydrogen production via electrolysis is energy consuming, a strong research effort has been made to develop more efficient production techniques. At LIST we defined photocatalysis as one of the priority areas. Ferroelectrics, on the other hand, are a class of materials that are used in different electronic devices, such as echography scanners, inkjet printers, haptics, etc.

At LIST we are experts on their processing, see for instance Song et al., arXiv:2303.13103 (2023); Glinsek et al., Adv. Funct. Mater., 36, 2003539 (2020); Blázquez-Martínez et al., J. Eur. Ceram. Soc., 41, 6449 (2021). Ferroelectrics possess spontaneous electric polarization, which can be coupled with catalytic reaction processes.

This has been recently recognized as a new paradigm to tackle environmental problems.

In this project we will combine our existing knowledge on ferroelectrics and water-splitting process.

The work will consist of processing (including growth of the films via flash lamp annealing on glass) of the materials, their characterization, and catalytic tests.

You hold a PhD degree in the field of materials science have a strong chemistry background.

If you have previous experience in processing of ferroelectric thin-film materials and their characterization, it is a strong asset. Y

ou should be good experimentalist with interdisciplinary mindset.

Excellent written and spoken English is a must.
