The **Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences** (FHSE) brings together expertise from the humanities, linguistics, cognitive sciences, social and educational sciences. People from across 20 disciplines are working within the Faculty. Along with the **disciplinary** approach a very ambitious interdisciplinary research culture has been developed.
The faculty’s research and teaching focuses on **social, economic, political **and** educational** issues with the common goal of contributing to an inclusive, open and resourceful society. The FHSE offers six Bachelor and twenty Master degrees and a doctoral school providing students with the necessary knowledge and high-qualified skills to succeed in their future career.
**Your Role...**:
The research scientist will join the _Youth Research Group_, a dynamic team of researchers working on different aspects of young people’s lives from a multidisciplinary perspective.
The main tasks are, firstly, to conduct and lead qualitative research in a large-scale mixed-methods project on youth and digitalization with a focus on life chances and inequalities and, secondly, to coordinate this project leading to the publication of the National Youth Report 2025. Other tasks include coordinating and contributing to the general research activities of the _Youth Research Group, _as well as taking on teaching assignments_._
The research scientist will become a member of the _Centre for Childhood and Youth Research (CCY)_ within the _Department of Social Sciences_. The CCY comprises a multidisciplinary research team that examines the conditions and opportunity structures of growing up against the backdrop of social change and inequalities. It maintains strong links to other institutes and relevant organizations within and beyond the department, both nationally and internationally.
**Tasks**
- Conduct and lead qualitative research in a large-scale mixed methods project on youth and digitalization
- Coordinate and contribute to National Youth Report 2025 (in German)
- Conduct and publish research in the area of digital inequalities
- Engage in policy-relevant analyses and dissemination of results to stakeholders
- Participate in and present at relevant national and international conferences
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders within and outside the university
- Coordinate and contribute to research activities of Youth Research Group
- Teaching in related study programmes
**What we expect from you**:
- PhD in a relevant field (e.g. sociology)
- Relevant (post)doctoral work and/or research experience
- Teaching experience considered an asset
- Experience with qualitative research methods, particularly qualitative interviewing; experience with quantitative research methods is considered an asset
- Experience with data processing and analysis software (e.g. ATLAS.ti, MAXQDA)
- Excellent command of at least two of the following languages: English, French, German (written and spoken); Luxembourgish considered an asset
