Director General for the Chief Financial Controller Directorate

As Director General, you will lead your Directorate in implementing and overseeing all aspects of EIB's corporate financial and cost management, including financial planning, accounting, budgeting, and procurement. You will also be responsible for internal and external reporting within the EIB Group.
This role involves managing, coordinating, and supervising large teams within the Directorate. It requires driving change management to streamline activities and enhance the efficiency of the Bank's organizational structure related to cost management, budgeting, and financial planning.
Operating Network:
- You will report to the Management Committee and collaborate closely with EIB staff at all levels, as well as with relevant services within the Group.
- As Director General, you will participate in various key meetings, including the Bank's Management Committee, Audit Committee, EIB's Board of Directors, Board of Governors, EIF's Audit Board, and the EIB's Remuneration and Budget Committee meetings.
- Externally, you will interact with external auditors, EU and public financial institutions, professional associations, external experts, and industry players.
Accountabilities:
- Strengthen and manage the EIB Group's corporate financial planning and budget planning, ensuring accountability for financial performance and resource utilization.
- Supervise the development of the Bank's financial and accounting strategy, ensuring the issuance of accurate financial statements.
- Align the Directorate's strategy with the Bank-wide strategy and oversee resource management.
- Lead and coach the management team, promote teamwork and collaboration.
- Ensure staff have the right competencies and motivation to implement strategies effectively.
- Develop budgeting and cost accounting methods, focusing on efficiency.
- Supervise key processes for timely financial reporting and budget control.
- Facilitate the transfer of responsibilities to shape the Directorate's vision.
Qualifications:
- University degree in Finance, Business Management, or Accounting with at least 15 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum 10 years of managerial experience, preferably in an international organization.
- Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, and international financial reporting standards.
- Understanding of banking regulations.
- Experience in translating vision and strategy into practical applications.
- Fluency in English and/or French, with knowledge of other EU languages as a plus.
