Brief description:

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate teacher and programmer to build a new Computer Science programme, grades 6-12, to include computational thinking as well as knowledge of how computers and other digital devices operate.

The teacher is a resource person for student and parents.

Teachers are expected to be aware of the philosophy, goals, objectives and policies of the school and to co-ordinate personal goals and objectives within this framework.

Teachers report to the School Principal.

Profile:
(training, experience, skills and aptitudes necessary to do the job)

  • Current teaching certificate or equivalent;
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (MA strongly preferred);
  • Proficient level of English (near native / C2 level)
  • Recent successful experience teaching using an experimental and inquirybased approach to problemsolving and learning;
  • Knowledge and proven experience to help students think procedurally, logically, concurrently, abstractly and recursively;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop algorithms and express them clearly;
  • Demonstrated eagerness to participate in advisory programmes and direct contributions to student social and emotional wellbeing;
  • Able to challenge all students to achieve success, appropriate to their needs;
  • At least two years of successful experience teaching Computer Science up to and including IB, to Upper School students (ages 11 to 18) preferred;
  • Recent successful teaching in an international school setting preferred;
  • Demonstrated understanding of recent developments in pedagogical best practice;
  • Particular strengths in working with technology supported learning;
  • Experienced in working in a collaborative teaching situation;
  • Technologically competent in basic resources and programmes (ex: Atlas Rubicon, Office 365 preferred);
  • Understanding of and experience with teaching students who are English Language Learners.
