Brief description:
The US Learning Support Teacher is a resource person for students, parents and teachers.
The US Learning Support Teacher will be familiar with the most recent developments and best practice in the area of Learning Support inclusion in a multi-tiered approach (MTSS).
The US Learning Support Teacher is an integral part of the wider school Support Services Team.
ISL is committed to safeguarding and prioritising the wellbeing of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.
Profile:
(training, experience, skills and aptitudes necessary to do the job)
- Current teaching certificate or equivalent;
- Minimum of Bachelor's degree or equivalent (MA preferred) in Special Needs Education / Learning Needs, and at least two years' recent successful experience teaching and working with secondary students with learning difficulties;
Equivalence with minimum of Bachelor's degree or equivalent (MA preferred), and at least five years' recent successful experience teaching and working with secondary students with learning difficulties;
- Recent successful experience supporting High School students up to the IB diploma;
- Mathematics background preferred to support students in Maths and Science;
- Fluency in English (near native level);
- Familiarity with recent developments in secondary school Learning Support education as applicable;
- Recent successful teaching in an international school setting;
- Experience working in a collaborative teaching situation, a coteaching model and with a demonstrated capacity or interest in working with teachers and students
- Ability to interpret appropriate psychoeducational testing results and / or ELL assessments as applicable
- Experience administering individual achievement testing, to learn more about a student's learning profile
- Familiarity and fluency with technology supported learning;
- Technologically competent in basic resources and programmes (Google Suite preferred).
- Understanding of and experience with teaching students who are English Language Learners.
- Understanding of and experience with teaching students who have specific learning differences.
