The University is committed to including sustainability in its operations and functioning to become a sustainable university in all its aspects.
Initiatives and actions have been launched not only to raise awareness, communicate, and inform university staff and students, but also to integrate sustainability into its operational processes (building management, energy consumption, procurement, mobility, waste management, campus life and societal commitment).
To accelerate the ecological transition of the University and its activities, we are looking for a Project Manager in Sustainability to assist the Chief Sustainable Officer in identifying and managing projects aimed at further anchoring the University in a sustainable operational management.
Your Role
:
In this context, the Project Manager will be in charge of:
- Conceptualizing and managing projects in the field of sustainability:
- Defining project objectives, scope and responsibilities
- Preparing detailed project plan with key milestones, and activities
- Tracking projects and providing reports to the Chief Sustainable Officer and UL management upon request
- Managing and adjusting any changes in the project scope or schedule
- Enabling the transformation of UL processes and procedures in order to integrate sustainability into the functions of the University
- Accompanying staff wishing to implement sustainability in their organisation through continuous advice, training, and engagement discussions
- Coordinating relationships with stakeholders and communication activities around sustainable projects, such as:
- Presentation of projects' results as experienced by staff, students, and external partners
- Acting as point of liaison for staff and students towards sustainability actions (individual actions and behaviors, support and adherence to the University's sustainable measures)
- Establishing partnerships with students around sustainable projects (e.g., creating a green office or similar)
- Creation and animation of an internal network of sustainability ambassadors to bring these themes to life within the University's entities and their staff
- Active involvement in the organisation of events or other outreach activities to promote sustainability
What we expect from you:
Strong sensitivity to the themes of ecological transition and in-depth knowledge of current issues.
- Master's degree (or equivalent) in the field of sustainable development and sustainability (environment, ecodevelopment, corporate social responsibility, circular economy, energy transition). Applicants with a master's degree in other disciplines, but with strong knowledge in sustainable development will be also considered
- At least 3 years of proven experience in sustainability
- Proven working experience in project management (administrative and budgetary planning, mobilisation of resources and teams, coordination of parties, communication of results)
- Excellent command of English, fluency in French. German and/or Luxembourgish will be considered as an asset
- Command of MS Office suite. Knowledge and use of graphics, web management and video software would be appreciated
- High capacity for analysis and synthesis
- Solid organisational and multitasking skills
- Very good written and verbal communication skills
- Passionate about the global issues of sustainable development and sustainability in organisations
