The
EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Secretariat General (SG), Communication Department (COM), Media Division (MEDIA), Europe Unit (EU) at its headquarters in Luxembourg a
(Associate) Media Officer.
This is a full time, temporary position at grade 4/5.
The term of this contract will till 30th
September 2024; _as this is a temporary replacement assignment, no extension or conversion of the contract is foreseen._**- _internal benchmark (Associate) Officer Corporate Communication_

Purpose:
The Communication Department ensures the Bank's activities are known and valued by its stakeholders and the public.
It ensures the EIB Group engages with them in an open and accountable way whilst working to maximize the public exposure of the EIB over the different channels and audiences outside and inside the Bank.
As the (Associate) Media Officer you will play a key role in the implementation of the EIB's communication strategy.You will carry out corporate communications activities aimed at external audiences, strengthening EIB presence and ensuring that the key messages of the EIB Group are coherently reflected in the international and national media.
You will be based in Luxembourg with frequent mission travel in your region of responsibility.
This is an exciting role for an experienced Media Officer to take a lead role as a regional specialist, working with a high level of autonomy in ensuring the Bank is effectively represented within Central and Eastern Europe.
This is a visible role providing you with the opportunity to make an impact and work with prominent stakeholders within the Group to raise the profile of the Bank in the region.
To ensure success in the role, you will have the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and build, develop and nurture internal and external networks.

Accountabilities:
- Engage in communication activities for the EIB, conveying the key messages of the EIB to journalists, influencers and stakeholders in the assigned region and all over Europe.
- Build and expand a contact network in Central and Eastern Europe and other countries / regions as required, and use it to communicate the EIB's contribution to the economy of these countries.
- Develop national and regional communication strategies and supervise local media consultants and communication agencies working for the EIB.
- Organise events, press conferences and journalist visits in Central and Eastern Europe and produce press material for these activities, cooperating closely with EU delegations and other stakeholders.
- Prepare briefings for EIB leadership visiting these countries.
- Contribute to the communication of EIB projects that are especially important for the region.
- Develop creative ideas for multimedia content and social media activities to increase the reach of communication.
- Work closely with the Director of Communications and the Head of Media Relations as well as other colleagues in the department and communications experts in other EIB departments.
- Work closely with colleagues to produce content packages, promote these packages to media outlets and arrange projects like series of articles, advertorials and web specials.
Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of relevant work experience with a focus on strategic communications, media and /or public relations
- A good understanding of current economic and political debates generally and especially in Central and Eastern Europe
- Excellent skills in communicating with different public audiences and knowledge of channels to reach our audiences
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills
- Some experience in social media and audiovisual is preferred
- Proficiency with common software such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Good knowledge of the EIB's mission and its activities and the EU institutional and political framework within which it operates
- Good understanding of EU economy and of the banking sector would be preferred
- Excellent knowledge of English (verbal and written) and a good knowledge of French(*). Knowledge of one or more Central and Eastern European languages would be a distinct advantage.
