LISER invites qualified and motivated applicants for an internship position in the
Urban Development and Mobility Department (UDM), within the framework of the research project «
Sustainable Residential Densification (SusDens) », under the supervision of Dr. Hichem OMRANI.

  • Develop and improve methodological and programming competences in the fields of machine learning and data analysis ;
  • Develop rigorous scientific research attitude and methods for solving specific problems ;
  • To be part of a stimulating, dynamic and international research environment.

Your Role:

- studying and developing supervised and unsupervised learning methods applied for automated pattern detection (classification) in large satellite imagery data ;
- implementing the developed algorithms using Python language for testing and compare the performance of the proposed algorithms ;
- contribute to other activities related to the project.

Your Profile:

  • You are enrolled as a
    Master student in
    Computer/Data Sciences, Engineering or a related discipline ;
  • Good programming skills in
    Python and knowledge in
    machine learning is required ;
  • Knowledge of
    Shell scripting and
    Git would be considered as an asset ;
  • Data handling skills for both rasterbased and vectorbased large spatial data would be a plus ;
  • Fluency (oral and written) in English, any other language would be considered as an asset ;
  • Ability to take own initiatives, as well as a strong ability for teamwork.
