Overview of role
abrdn's Luxembourg office is currently looking for an experienced Anti-Financial Crime professional to join the team as a Senior Manager on a 12 month fixed term contract and be responsible for:
- Providing day-today oversight of AFC matters within Luxembourg- Providing abrdn Lux Senior management and Manco and Fund Boards with appropriate management information and reporting to ensure each has the necessary information to fulfil their AFC related legal and regulatory senior management responsibilities- Ensuring that the AFC activities are carried out in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements and guidance.- Taking decisions on investor due diligence matters under delegated authority from the appointed RC.
Other key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Head of Anti-Financial Crime Luxembourg in the coordination and oversight of abrdn’s AFC systems and controls, ensuring that at all times the Luxembourg and EU entities conduct activities in compliance with all relevant AFC laws, rules, regulations and guidance;- To provide advice and guidance on AFC matters especially focusing on investor and counterparty due diligence topics, ensuring that Senior management are provided with the guidance necessary to conduct business activities in line with the firm’s Global AFC Policies and Standards and risk appetite and local policies and procedures- To receive, review, advise, approve (under delegated authority from the Management Company RC) and where appropriate challenge 1LoD escalations relevant to the abrdn Luxembourg entities. Including, those relating to higher risk clients/activities and any Policy/Standards/local waiver or exception requests, prior to any required escalations and referrals to the Global AFC Head;- Identifying and raising issues which do not follow law, regulation, policies, standards and risk appetite, and working with local and AFC Senior management to ensure timely remediation of AFC related matters;- Ensuring the 1LoD is made aware of, and puts in place, robust and timely plans to address AFC deficiencies identified. Where appropriate, reviewing action plans and artefacts to provide relevant levels of assurance over the effectiveness of such activities;- To work with 1LoD to ensure that accurate, up to date and processes are in place to effectively oversee the implementation of AFC requirements and to escalate where risks or issues arise;- To act as a key point of contact for AFC matters for abrdn Luxembourg including attendance at, and active participation in, relevant Investment Vector and associated legal entity committees and forums;- Supporting in the completion of AFC risks assessments in abrdn Luxembourg;- Assisting with queries from clients, regulators, counterparties, auditors and other professional third parties on matters relating to AFC Policies and Standards and local AFC regulatory requirements;- To review and where necessary raise to the FIU any Suspicious Activity or Suspicious Transaction Reports
**Qualifications**:
- Degree qualified or equivalent professional experience- ICA Diploma or equivalent preferred
Key knowledge, skills & experience-
- Proven track record of delivery gained within the financial services sector; ideally with a strong understanding and experience of the activities of investments in the asset management sector across a number of jurisdictions.- Experience of running and maintaining robust Governance systems- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
