**Your Role...**:
The applicant will investigate how to electrodeposit metal precursor structures in patterned arrays to later be converted into inorganic semiconductors for semi-transparent and micro-concentrator solar cells. The structuring will be realised using magnetorheological electrolytes (MRE) consisting of masking and active species. The main work is to understand how to electrodeposit arrays of uniform metallic precursor thin films from both aqueous and ionic liquid MRE using a custom-built deposition chamber. Afterwards, the structure property relationships between the deposits and the semiconductor / solar cells will be investigated. The MRE and magnetic field controller will be provided by the REMAP consortium. The project will involve significant international collaboration.
