Postdoctoral Position for Metabolomics Research in

The **Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB)** is an interdisciplinary research centre of the University of Luxembourg. We conduct fundamental and translational research in the field of Systems Biology and Biomedicine - in the lab, in the clinic and _in silico_. We focus on neurodegenerative processes and are especially interested in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease and their contributing factors.
The LCSB recruits talented scientists from various disciplines: computer scientists, mathematicians, biologists, chemists, engineers, physicists and clinicians from more than 50 countries currently work at the LCSB. **Your Role...**:
- Perform targeted and untargeted (mostly liquid chromatography) mass spectrometry-based metabolomics analyses in samples of patients with mitochondrial disorders
- Chemical identification of relevant unknown peaks detected in samples of patients with mitochondrial disorders using cheminformatics approaches and final validation using targeted methods
- Perform metabolic enzyme assays and metabolomics-based functional studies in human cell and yeast models of mitochondrial disorders
- Use modern data management and establish precise project documentation
- Work in a collaborative environment, also with different service-based core platforms (sequencing, metabolomics, and imaging facilities)
- Active participation in project consortium meetings
- Independent drafting of project reports and potentially grant proposals
- Writing manuscripts for publication in high-quality journals
- Presentation of research findings at international scientific meetings
**What we expect from you**:
- PhD degree in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, or another similar life science-related discipline
- Extensive analytical experience in target and non-target high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS/MS), preferably in a metabolomics setting
- Strong background in metabolic biochemistry and keen interest in mitochondrial biology
- Strong computational skills, including programming, will be considered as an important asset
- Solid bioinformatic and biostatistics skills will be required
- Excellent organizational and management skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Fluency in oral and written English is essential
