Backend Developer

The **Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C2DH) **is a **research **centre** for the study, analysis and public dissemination of contemporary history of Luxembourg and Europe with a particular focus on digital methods and tools for doing innovative historical research. It serves as a catalyst for **innovative** and **creative** scholarship and new forms of public dissemination and societal engagement with history.

**Your Role...**

Together with a strong industrial partner, the C2DH wants to shape the future of scientific book publishing. We aim in creating a new publication pipeline that takes into account the diversity of research outputs and wants to make these outputs publishable and sustainable.

• Design and implement document conversion and transformation pipelines
• Convert documents from various formats to JATS/BITS XML
• Ensure software meets performance and quality standards
• Troubleshoot and debug software issues
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and solve complex problems

**What we expect from you**

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
• 3+ years of experience in backend development
• Strong experience with document processing tools and libraries
• Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python
• Experience with data exchange formats such as XML and related technologies
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
• Scripting skills to build and fine tune conversion pipelines
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
