**Brief description**: The Upper School Higher Education & Careers Counsellor is a resource person for students, teachers and parents within the school.

The Upper School Higher Education & Careers Counsellor is available for scheduled personal and academic counselling and serves as the College and University Admissions Counsellor.

ISL is committed to safeguarding and prioritising the wellbeing of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.

**Profile**: (training, experience, skills and aptitudes necessary to do the job)
- Master’s Degree or equivalent in an appropriate field of study;
- Training and experience in educational psychology, counselling and diagnostic testing;
- Experience in social and emotional counselling desirable;
- Familiarity with UK, Europe and North American higher education options and admissions processes;
- Familiarity with and understanding of recent developments in secondary education;
- At least two years’ successful similar experience in an international school setting;
- Complete fluency in English (near native level);
- Experienced in working in a collaborative teaching environment;
- Technologically competent in basic resources and programmes (ex: Atlas Rubicon,
- Office 365 preferred);
- Understanding of and experience with teaching students who are English Language Learners.
