Junior System Administrator

Sopra Steria is looking for a **Junior Unix Engineer** to join our team working for an impactful project for a client in public sector EU.

His/her main responsibility is to ensure the provision of a service to clients ensuring that their IT infrastructure and systems remains operational through proactively identifying, investigating and resolving technical incidents and problems and to restore service to clients by managing incidents to resolution. His/her primary objective is to ensure zero missed service level agreement conditions and the achievement of client satisfaction through building and supporting of technology solutions.

**Technical support**
- The UNIX Engineer investigates all line support calls and identifies the root cause of incidents, events and problems to avoid reoccurrence. The UNIX Engineer ensures the effective and comprehensive resolution of incidents, problems, events and requests.
- Incident, problem, event and request management
- The UNIX Engineer is required to identify the problem, incident and document the actions required, identifying and selecting the appropriate solutions, including the development of a workaround plan, and the implementation of a resolution and recovery, ensuring compliance to the relevant processes and within service level agreements.

**Key accountabilities**
- Responsibilities are wide ranging including lead, managing and coordinating Service Improvement initiatives, change management and providing support to the team as appropriate.
- In his role the UNIX Engineer is responsible for effective provisioning, installing/configuring, operating, and maintaining the infrastructure. He/she participates in technical research and development to enable continual innovation and ensures a smooth transition of projects into daily operations by performing linked activities within the project life cycle.

**Skills and Experience**
- You have at least 2+ years of experience in a Unix/Linux mid to big size infrastructure
- University degree or equivalent level through experience and professional training;
- Comfortable with most aspects of administration of systems (LVM, process management, recources, file manipulation ).
- Extensive understanding of most of the technical aspects and concepts.
- Ability to write automation solutions in some language (e.g. Python, Ansible, Bash, Perl).
- Extensive knowledge on protocols: HTTP, DNS, NTP, SMTP.
- Extensive knowledge network OSI model.
- Tools: GIT/GitLab, Jenkins, RedHat Satellite, Kickstart.
- Nagios/Icinga2 knowledge or any other similar monitoring tool.
- Cluster-based knowledge.
- Vmware knowledge.
- Extensive knowledge automated configuration mgmt tool like CFEngine, Ansible.
- You possess the ability and willingness to quickly learn new technologies, capable of self-study;
- In addition to your strong communication skills, you are structured, process minded and able to maintain the high level overview
- You are fluent in English (at least B2 Level).
