The **Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences** (FHSE) brings together expertise from the humanities, linguistics, cognitive sciences, social and educational sciences. People from across 20 disciplines are working within the Faculty. Along with the **disciplinary** approach a very ambitious interdisciplinary research culture has been developed.
The faculty’s research and teaching focuses on **social, economic, political **and** educational** issues with the common goal of contributing to an inclusive, open and resourceful society. The FHSE offers six Bachelor and twenty Master degrees and a doctoral school providing students with the necessary knowledge and high-qualified skills to succeed in their future career.
The overarching task of this position is working for the European Migration Network (EMN), National Contact Point (NCP) Luxembourg on topics of migration, asylum and integration in cooperation with the European Commission.
**Your Role...**:
The research and development specialist will work within the research project “EMN” in the Department of Geography and Spatial Planning. Under the supervision of Professor Birte Nienaber, he/she will:
- Follow the latest developments in the national and European migration policies
- Research data necessary for various projects
- Draft and finalise reports in English
- Work on studies and informs on migration, asylum and integration
- Support the work on the Annual Report on Migration and Asylum in Luxembourg
- Support the work on the EMN Glossary in French
- Organise different types of events
More specifically, he/she will:
- Draft and finalise EMN studies - attend and prepare for meetings of the Advisory Group with the aim of setting a common template; collect and analyse data on given topics; conduct interviews with relevant stakeholders; desk research on policies, practices and legislation; provide feedback on the Synthesis Reports of the studies; draft and finalise a summary note of studies in French
- Support the drafting and finalising of the Annual Report on Migration and Asylum in Luxembourg - review and analyse the latest national policies and activities in the field of migration and asylum; collaborate with national partners and experts; provide feedback on the Annual Synthesis Report on Migration and Asylum
- Support the work on EMN Glossary; provide assistance for translation of terms (EN to FR)
- Support the implementation and dissemination of the EMN Educational Tool Destination Europe
- Supervise the work of (a) student assistant(s)
- Provide national contributions on latest developments in the field of migration and asylum for the EMN Bulletin and the LU EMN NCP Weekly Brief
- Organise and/or provide assistance to staff members for the organisation of LU EMN NCP webinars, workshops, capacity building events and conferences
- Participate in meetings and conferences in Luxembourg and other European countries on a regular basis (if the sanitary conditions allow it); represent the LU EMN NCP at these meetings as needed
- Carry out various administrative tasks
**What we expect from you**:
- Experience in the field of migration and asylum. Knowledge of the Luxembourgish national context will be considered as an advantage
- Excellent communication and drafting and reporting skills
- Ability to liaise with stakeholders and to establish contacts at national and international levels
- Ability to work independently and within an interdisciplinary team
- Proven knowledge in data collection and processing (e.g. creating tables and graphs for reporting)
- Solid experience in the use of common computer software (e.g. Microsoft Office)
- Willingness to participate in meetings in Europe (especially in Brussels)
