7+ years of international VAT experience with a public accounting firm, major law firm, and/or in industry, preferably a multinational corporation.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Amazon has an exciting opportunity for a VAT Manager to join our established Tax Advisory team, to support Amazon’s Retail, Operations and Payments Businesses in the EU and UK. This role is based in Luxembourg.
Key job responsibilities
**The day to day responsibilities include**:
- Researching VAT issues - working with outside advisers as necessary - as part of the tax team supporting Business initiatives.
- Defining, managing and coordinating tax requirements for existing and new product launches and other initiatives.
- Providing relevant tax guidance and work to build understanding with the Business so that adherence is maintained.
- Assess and communicate how existing or future VAT laws and regulations will impact the business.
- Assist with managing relationships with outside tax advisors and regulatory authorities on an ongoing basis.
A day in the life
Every day will be different as you will be working on multiple different projects and initiatives as well as providing ongoing day-to-day support for Amazon’s Retail, Operations and Payments Businesses in the EU and UK. You will be working as part of a team, including corporate tax and transfer pricing, to provide tax advice to our Business partners as well as the opportunity to take the lead on initiatives across the wider Amazon Tax group. This role will have responsibility for and ownership across a number of different areas within the Retail, Operations and Payments Businesses with strong support provided by the rest of the team.

- Relevant professional tax qualification or law degree
- Relevant tax experience in a corporate environment, public accounting firm or major law firm.
- Expertise in international tax planning and strong understanding of or practical experience with tax laws in other countries.
- Organized, detail-oriented individual who is self-motivated and takes ownership of projects.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively on milestone driven projects.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams and partner well with people at all levels within an organization.
- Able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, informal, and often ambiguous and rapidly changing business environment.
- The ability to persuasively communicate complex and technical concepts and issues to internal and external stakeholders, in writing and verbally
- A team player with a hands-on attitude.
- Another European language is a nice to have.
