Senior Accountant

**Position Summary**:
Hillwood Investment Properties (HIP) is seeking to hire a **Senior Property Accountant** to join its growing accounting team based in Luxembourg. Reporting to the German Controller, this individual will be responsible for managing the financial statements of a portfolio of Luxembourg companies and SPVs that hold German real estate assets. The Senior Property Accountant will play a key role in reviewing financial reports, managing tax and regulatory compliance, and liaising with external auditors and service providers. In addition, this individual will collaborate across business functions, including Finance, Accounting, and the Real Estate Valuation teams, and provide crucial support for transactions involving the purchase and sale of real estate assets.

**Responsibilities**:

- Review financial reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) using IFRS for Luxembourg companies that own German real estate, liaising with other business personnel and third-party service providers.
- Assist with the review and preparation of quarterly investor reporting for assigned entities.
- Provide support for relevant tax (including German VAT), regulatory, and statutory reporting, in collaboration with third-party service providers.
- Liaise with US and EU-based external auditors, complete all necessary reporting, and address any issues or recommendations raised within the Fund Financial Statements.
- Act as the primary contact for third-party matters (auditors, tax consultants, etc.) and provide support to business personnel on ad hoc matters.
- Collaborate with internal staff and external advisors on transactions involving the purchase and sale of German real estate assets.
- Support quarterly real estate valuation processes with external valuers.
- Ensure follow-up with service providers regarding any raised issues until resolved.
- Manage invoices and transaction payments.
- Assist with intercompany financing, external loan draws, and lender reporting.
- Support the incorporation of new entities and the opening of bank accounts.
- Provide documents to and liaise with the service delivery center, review their work, and provide feedback.

- Familiarity with interpreting key language in legal and financial documents such as Partnership Agreements, Purchase and Sale Agreements, Development Agreements, Loan Agreements, and Property Management Agreements.
- Understanding of full life cycle accounting of real estate projects from acquisition to disposition is a plus.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel is required.
- Experience with JD Edwards or similar accounting software is preferred.

**Education and Experience**:

- Bachelor’s Degree Required in Finance or Accounting required.
- 1-3 years' experience working in real estate property accounting or public accounting required.
- ACCA certified or similar, strongly preferred.
- Experience in dealing with Real Estate Funds is strongly preferred.
- Problem solving oriented approach
- German language skills (B1 or higher) and English required.
- Knowledge of IFRS, Lux GAAP and US GAAP strongly preferred.
- Experience with German and Luxembourg real estate accounting is strongly preferred.
