The Environmental Research and Innovation (ERIN) department, made up of 200 life science, environmental science and information technology researchers and engineers, provides the interdisciplinary knowledge, expertise and technologies to lead solutions including the major environmental challenges facing society, such as climate change mitigation, ecosystem resilience, sustainable energy systems, efficient use of renewable resources, and environmental pollution prevention and control.

As an ERIN intern, you will join the Environmental Policies group (EPS), a research group of the Sustainability Assessment and Circularity (SUSTAIN) research unit. The EPS group aims to contribute to a better control of environmental risks and the development towards a tox-free, circular and sustainable society via science-based support to the definition, implementation and evaluation of environmental policies at national and EU level and regulatory support for RDI at the interface of science, technologies and policies.

To fulfil its mission, EPS also conducts awareness raising among consumers and other stakeholders in particularly companies. In this context, our work relies on the effective usage of communication with its different channels as a mean to convey and receive information. The different projects we are involved in, confirmed that the level of awareness and responsiveness varies between the different EU countries when it comes to hazardous chemicals and environmental concerns.

**Responsibilities**:
**How will you contribute?**:
**To investigate reasons behind the difficulty of awareness and/or compliance and to derive practical improvements, you will**:

- Review and analyse available information on stakeholder behaviour in the EU and its Member States with a focus on hazardous chemicals and environmental concerns to understand differences, know blocking points/success factors, etc.
- Gather social media data and other communication materials from our past and current projects to assess their impact (e.g. compare the impact of similar communications in different countries and attempt to identify the reason for the difference in the impact)
- Collect all the information involved in the evaluation of the security posture (centralization of logs, administration of the SIEM solution)
- Compare the findings of the first two points to derive general conclusions and recommendations
- Contact stakeholders or initiate a survey to collect feedback on policies challenges

Must Have Requirements
**Education**
- You are a Bachelor or Master student in Science or Art (Environmental Science or Sustainability, Social/Political Science, or Communication)

**Experience and skills**
- Strong interest in sustainability topics and/or chemical safety, stakeholder behaviour as well as policy development
- Communication strategies and assessment of impact
- Social media analysis
- Desktop research

**Language skills**
- Good level both written and spoken English. French, German or Luxembourgish are considered an asset.
