**Role / Job Description**

Team introduction:
The Risk Management Department is the second line of defense in its role of monitoring and assessing business practices as related to the risk appetite framework for SMBC. Within the department, you will primarily support the Chief Risk Officer in maintaining second line oversight of the risk management function. Additionally, you will support internal control processes, including independent review, and assist in ensuring the firm is in compliance with applicable rules and regulations. This work will require you to have extensive engagement across different functions within the Firm. In addition, you will also be a key participant in regulatory exams and inquiries

**Main purpose of the role**

Ensuring the continuous improvement and quality of risk management processes and controls in line with both regulatory and internal requirements while monitoring daily controls and the production of periodical reports within the risk framework.

Developing projects in line with ECB, EBA and CSSF expectations.

**Main responsibilities**

As a Junior Risk Management Agent, you will:

- Manage and monitor risks on a daily basis by analyzing a combination of automated reports as well as manual reports such as credit, operational and market risk;
- Calculate and monitor collateral on a daily basis based on the development of the forex market;
- Ensure the Bank's daily second level control by analyzing and validating reports of internal controls related to all operations of the Bank;
- Regulatory watch on risk management topics such as Basel IV, ICAAP, funds industry;
- Assist in the production of periodical risk reports such as operational risk report, annual risk report and other internal reports;
- Prepare and develop stress testing;
- Assist the Chief Risk Officer in various risk management and fund compliance topics ;
- Constantly review the existing risk framework (regulatory and internal requirements) in close cooperation with other department,.

**Education, experiences and competencies**
- Strong communication skills, leadership and relationship-building skills to work with internal departments, Headquarter and regulatory bodies
- Strong ability to work collaboratively with internal risk management colleagues and risk management leaders across all subsidiaries and globally
- Demonstrates sound judgement in handling complex and highly confidential matters with integrity and professionalism
- Professional approach to taking a firm position on risk in the absence of broad-based support; understands impact of downstream policy implementation
- Strong reasoning ability understands complex situations, people and systems needs against backdrop of implementing a risk management environment
- Stays current on new risk concerns and best practices policy recommendations and implementation
- Expert written and oral communications skills; strong ability to write policy; excellent presentation skills
- Master’s degree in Economics or Finance
- 0 to 2 years experience in risk management is a plus
