Laboratory Technician

**Laboratory Technician**:
2-year fixed-term contract, available immediately

The Cancer Metabolism Group (Head: Dr. Johannes Meiser) within the Department of Cancer Research of LIH, is currently looking for a Laboratory Technician to strengthen our team. Established in September 2018, the group is currently composed of four PhD students and three postdoctoral fellows. We are focusing our research efforts towards a detailed understanding of the role of metabolism in health and disease with a special emphasis on onco/immuno-metabolism.

**Key Accountabilities**
- Establish new protocols and generate validated SOPs
- Monitor the equipment, notify potential technical defaults and coordinate maintenance/repair where necessary
- Monitor and maintain stocks of consumable materials
- Keep current databases updated and find solutions to manage information efficiently if needed
- Carry out experiments independently in the framework of 1cRedOx project
- Analyze and report results and be able to engage by discussing results
- Ability to coordinate ongoing lab activities in conjunction with the Principal Investigator.

**Qualifications & Key Skills
- Laboratory Technician’s diploma or alternative qualification (e.g. Masters degree in biomedical sciences)
- Hands-on experience in experimental lab work including the use of mammalian cell models
- Knowledge in the area of Metabolism and/or handling of 3D culture will be an advantage
- Rigor, efficiency, team player, self-driven motivation, initiative taking, punctual and reliable, ability to think ahead
- Willing to join a young and dynamic team
- Fluent command of English (written and spoken)
