How will you contribute?

We are seeking a researcher to work on the electrochemical synthesis of copper-based materials for a two-year position. This project is part of a large collaboration between LIST and Circuit-Foil, a copper foil manufacturing company based in Luxembourg. You will contribute to the understanding of copper nucleation processes on various types of substrates in classical and/or industrial electrochemical cell configurations. The project also involves the fabrication of copper/carbon composites and the exploration of 3D copper manufacturing.

You should have experience with electroplating and material characterization techniques such as SEM, FTIR, XPS, and DRX, as well as mechanical, electrical, and/or thermal property measurements.

The candidate will work at LIST (Belvaux) and have regular contact with the company, with some experimentation possible at the company site.

The topic of this work is very close to the ones related to another published job offer. The candidate will therefore benefit from strong cross-fertilizing interactions between candidates.

Education

• You hold a PhD degree with demonstrated theoretical and practical knowledge in Materials science, Materials chemistry and electrochemistry.

Experience and skills

• Proven hands-on experience in materials chemistry and/or electroplating.
• Good experience with structural and chemical characterization using state-of-the art techniques (SEM, DRX, XPS, etc.).
• Experience in Atomic Layer Deposition, mechanical, electrical and/or thermal characterizations of materials, is a plus.
• High-level scientific and technological track record related to material chemistry and/or electroplating is a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
• The candidate should be motivated by working with an industrial partner
• Collaborative skills, initiative, autonomy, result oriented and capacity to work in an interdisciplinary environment

Language skills

• Fluency in English both oral and written. French is consider a big asset.
