With 50+ international members, NIRA plays a key role in delivering sustainable insurance capacity for Material Damage, Third Party Liability and specialized nuclear risks. The mutual operates as a member-owned captive with a strong focus on technical excellence, governance, innovation and regulatory compliance.

To support our continued development and regulatory obligations, we are seeking an experienced

Managing Director / Dirigeant Agréé (Approved Manager)
to lead the organization and ensure strong operational, financial and governance performance.

Role Overview

The Managing Director / Dirigeant Agréé is responsible for the overall management, strategic direction and regulatory oversight of the Mutual. The role reports directly to the Board of Directors and acts as the primary interface with regulators, members, auditors and key external partners.

The position requires strong leadership, decision-making authority, and accountability under Luxembourg regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Governance

  • Advise and support the Board of Directors in strategic planning, governance and policy development.
  • Ensure full compliance with Luxembourg laws, regulatory requirements and corporate governance standards.
  • Act as the primary regulatory contact (CSSF and relevant authorities where applicable).

Strategy & Development

  • Define and implement the organization's strategic roadmap in alignment with the Board.
  • Monitor market developments, regulatory changes and industry trends impacting nuclear and specialty reinsurance.
  • Drive innovation, operational efficiency and long-term sustainability of the Mutual.

Operations & Management

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the organization.
  • Ensure effective execution of approved business plans and operational priorities.
  • Maintain high standards of internal controls, reporting and risk management.

Financial, Risk & Resource Management

  • Prepare annual budgets for Board approval and manage financial resources prudently.
  • Oversee financial performance, solvency, risk exposure and capital efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting, tax and regulatory reporting requirements.

Human Resources & Organization

  • Lead and develop the management team and employees.
  • Ensure HR policies comply with Luxembourg employment law and best practices.
  • Foster a performance-driven, collaborative and accountable culture.

Stakeholder & External Relations

  • Maintain strong relationships with Members, regulators, auditors, brokers and service providers.
  • Represent the organization externally and safeguard its reputation and credibility.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum
    10 years of experience
    in a senior management role (insurance, reinsurance, financial services or regulated environment).
  • Proven experience in managing complex organizations with regulatory accountability.
  • Strong understanding of
    corporate governance, financial management, risk management and regulatory frameworks
    .
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic and business plans.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to operate under pressure and manage crisis situations.
  • Fluent in
    English
    ; French and/or German is an advantage.
  • Eligibility to act as
    Dirigeant Agréé
    under Luxembourg regulation is required.
