The research group ‘Economic and Social Well-being’ of the Institute for Health and Behaviour, led by Prof. Conchita D’Ambrosio, is looking for one post-doctoral researcher to conduct cutting-edge multidisciplinary research on the individual life-course from a social-science perspective.
Our research focus is both theoretical and applied. We work to provide theoretically-sound measures of various phenomena - such as economic insecurity, multidimensional poverty, relative deprivation, resilience, and social exclusion - that are becoming increasingly common in our societies. We also explore the impacts of various life events on measures of well-being via the use of panel and birth-cohort data. We enrich the traditional approach followed in the Social Sciences with insights from Biology looking at variables related to DNA and DNA Methylation. We are interested, for example, in the well-being and behavioural consequences of economic insecurity, how economic resources change over the life-cycle, and how economic shocks may have epigenetic impacts on biological aging and the resulting health and well-being implications.
