PURPOSE OF ROLE & EMPLOYING ENTITY DESCRIPTION

Rakuten Europe Bank S.A. started operating as a bank in 2016. Prior to that it was known as Rakuten Payment Services S.A. a Payment Institution intermediating payments between the consumers and the merchants on the Rakuten's European e-commerce platforms. RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

Statutory accounting activities:

- Supervising bookkeeping for Accounts Payables and Accounts Receivables. Sub-ledger Accounting.
- Supervising Bank statement movements booking.
- Supervising Fixed assets and Prepayments accounting. Fixed assets register maintenance.
- Owning the monthly closing review and related controls and checklists.
- Invoicing for the various intercompany contracts (Staff IN/OUT recharges, Global Payment Gateway billing etc.)
- Accounting for Deposits, Factoring receivables and other investments accounting in General Accounting Software (SAP B1).
- Given most regularly standards in use at the Bank are IAS1, IFRS9, IFRS15, IFRS16, IAS38, ensure/enforce strict adherence to standards, develop protocols and/or procedures accordingly within Accounting team.
- Own the monthly closing meeting. Improve closing times.
- Supervise administrative tasks such as filing and archiving.
- Act as main PoC for internal/external audit activities relating to accounting for both interim and annual accounts cycles.

Team management:

- Manage the existing Accounting function. Manage resources and role back-ups (currently 2 direct reports: Senior Accountant + Accountant).
- Motivate, Train and Nurture direct reports for improved efficiency
- Develop team members through delegation, Motivate team members. Recruit when necessary.
- Embody and evangelize Rakuten corporate values for self and team members.
- Attend the Rakuten Group Management programme or any relevant training programme.
- Propose innovative ways to improve the Accounting / Finance function so as to bring ever more professionalism, to improve standards and to better serve internal customers.
- Keep a friendly and joyful professional mindset with team and fellow colleagues.

Projects & other activities:

- Maintain existing General accounting software (SAP B1) with assistance from team members.
- Contribute to Finance on-going projects such as support the team on User Acceptance Testing or documenting processes.
- Highlight and escalate bugs to Project team. Propose improvements or fixes as relevant.
- Strict compliance with existing procedures, processes, policies and standards.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR THE ROLE
- Studies in Accounting and Finance (Bachelor is a must, Master is a plus).
- 3+ years of experience in a similar role
- Excellent knowledge of English (both verbal and written). Any other language is an advantage (e.g. French or Japanese )
- Good knowledge of IFRS and/or Banking sector are a strong plus. Prior financial audit background is a decisive advantage.
- Very good command of Microsoft Excel. Appetite for Technology and Fintech sector.
- SAP B1, Temenos are a plus. Extensive Training will be provided on systems.
