We are looking for a **Kafka Architect** for an internal IT hosting services provider of a large European Institution.

As **Kafka Architect**, you will be responsible for the Kafka Service implementation from A to Z; and this from business needs to the technical constraints imposed by integration into a vast and complex echo-system. Indeed, as a Service provider for an institution like the European Commission, we must respect very specific criteria established in ambitious SLAs.

Your role will therefore not only be related to technical implementations; it will obviously be necessary to ensure that the Kafka service fits perfectly into the organization already in place.

**Your role**:

- Full Service lifecycle implementation from requirements analysis, platform selection and setup, technical architecture design, service design and development, testing, and deployment;
- Develop Enterprise's Apache Kafka Distributed Messaging and Integration Ecosystem;
- Build automation and tooling for the service;
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize platform delivering the Kafka service;
- Collaborate with other teams to integrate into their systems;
- Provide technical support for Kafka Service to internal stakeholders;
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Data Platform, DevOps, and Integration Teams to ensure option follows standard best practices.

Your Profile:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Information Technology or equivalent experience;
- 2+ years of experience building integrations using Kafka ;
- Strong knowledge of EAI/SOA best practices, development methodologies & standards;
- Strong knowledge of API based integration and micro services design patterns & best practices;
- Solid Programming skills using J2EE, Design Patterns, JMS, SOAP / REST Web Services;
- Experience with Kafka administration, configuration, and tuning;
- Demonstrated experience implementing Kafka architecture, rules, caching, etc.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills and the ability to interact with all levels of stakeholders, support personnel, and clients;
- Strong documentation, analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Certifications on Confluent Kafka, Cloud Technologies is a plus.

Preferred qualifications:

- Experience in Kafka Capacity planning, installation, administration/Platform management and deep knowledge of Kafka internals
- Knowledge of Integration Design patterns for building middleware systems ground up using Streaming, Pub/Sub, Message Queue, Message sequencing, Batch message processing, error handling and reconciliation mechanisms.
- Knowledge of Web Services Interoperability, WS-* standards and ability to suggest, criticize and formulate solutions in a multi-vendor and architecture committee meetings.
- Good knowledge of SOA architecture and fluency in web service standards such as WSSE and technologies (XML, SOAP, WSDL, XSD, REST) is a must
- Good understanding of relational databases; experience working with different adaptors (SAP, SFDC, DB) and JMS queues required.
- Knowledge of Security, Logging, Auditing, Policy Management and Performance Monitoring and KPI for end-to-end flow execution.
- Splunk integration desirable.
- Lead large to small development teams in multi-phase, heterogonous work environments, with multiple work streams.
- Strong knowledge and usage of Devops and GitOps principles
- Ability to work with team members in a teleworking model
- Ability to work in an agile environment
- Strong service attitude and a commitment to quality
