- Role of Department
- The Liberty Mutual Insurance Europe (LMIE) Risk Management (RM) team is part of the broader LSM RM team and is a key contributor to the LSM’s internal control framework within the second line of defence. The role and responsibilities of the LMIE/LSM RM team are:
- Develop and implement a RM strategy to support achievement of LSM’s corporate objectives, strategy and business plan.
- Develop and embed an effective RM framework which allows the identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring and reporting of risk and measures the management of those exposures to a level consistent with the LSM’s risk appetite.
- Assist the Board and management in their responsibility to understand and monitor the risks faced by the business, and thereby help LMIE/LSM meet the expectations of its regulators.Help to ensure stakeholder’s confidence in LSM’s systems of governance thereby safeguarding and aligning the interest of stakeholders including regulators and Liberty Mutual Group (LMG) with LSM’s corporate objectives.- Key Responsibilities:
- The Senior Risk Analyst will report to the LMIE Chief Risk Officer and will contribute with the RM function in the following detailed activities:
- Risk strategy and appetite- Support in defining and implementing a comprehensive Risk Strategy for LMIE. Contribute to deliver the annual Risk Plan and the activities of the Risk Management function, including thematic reviews on key risk issues.
- Maintain a clear risk appetite framework for LMIE. Ensure risk appetites are considered and embedded in decision making.
- Regularly report to senior management on the risk profile against appetite, advising on risk mitigation strategies where required.
- Ensure there is an effective risk culture across the Company.
- Risk framework, processes and systems
- Maintain the risk identification and assessment process, ensuring the RM function and management have a clear and continuous view of the risk exposure of the organisation.
- Work closely with business functions to monitor risk exposures and advise on risk mitigation strategies where required. This will include partnering with the business to understand the impact of new projects and initiatives.
- Support key RM activities e.g. internal controls, operational incidents, stress and scenario testing and reverse stress testing.Develop and maintain comprehensive management reporting, including use of risk management systems and data visualisation tools.- Reporting and governance- Lead and coordinate the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) process at a LMIE level, ensuring on time production of the annual ORSA reports for Board approval.
- Lead the RM contribution to regulatory reporting such as SFCR and RSR.
- Assist in the production/review of all regular and ad hoc reporting from the RM function, including to the Risk Management Committee, Board, regulators, and other key stakeholders.
- Facilitate and ensure effective risk governance, including the operation of various risk committees as required.
- Regularly present key findings of the Risk Management framework to senior management, up to and including the Board.
- Prepare and present risk reporting to defined LMIE Branches.Remain updated on regulatory developments to provide timely input.- Conduct Risk- Adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements forms part of your role, this includes LSM’s Conduct Risk Framework, as it relates to your role, which is core to LSM’s commitment to placing customers at the center of our business. LSM expects you to understand your responsibilities relating to Solvency II and to LSM’s Conduct best practices and to proactively demonstrate compliance with these requirements and behaviours at all times.
- Skills and Experience- Extensive experience in risk management in financial services / insurance.
- Experience of ORSA and stress testing processes.
- Good understanding of different Solvency II risk categories.
- Familiar with principles of regulatory capital (Internal Model and Standard Formula).
- Logical mind-set, eye for detail, able to translate detail into big picture.
