The **SigCom research group** works across the entire spectrum of blue-sky research and applied research to conceive and demonstrate future communication paradigms. Researchers with an interest in terrestrial and non-terrestrial communication systems, will find a large and vibrant team of over 70 members fostering a collaborative atmosphere. SIGCOM’s state-of-the art facilities include 4 physical laboratories: the Software Defined Networking Lab, the Communications Lab, the 5G Space Communication Lab, in addition to the SATCOM Lab of the Interdisciplinary Space Master. The group is also the recipient of numerous awards, such as the European Association for Signal Processing (EURASIP) Group Technical Achievement Award, the IEEE Communications Society Distinguished Contributions to Satellite Communications Award, as well as 4 European Research Council grants.

**Your Role...**:

- Analyzing and investigating efficient signal processing methods for ultra-massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) networks with reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs) over THz wireless channels.
- Developing low-complexity channel estimation/prediction, beam training/tracking, hybrid (analog/digital and active/passive) precoding, and resource management schemes for both co-located and distributed THz wireless networks.
- Investigating the spectral and energy efficiency performance of 6G networks with various types of RISs (active, passive, reflective, and transmissive), and analyze the resultant complexity/performance trade-offs.
- Investigating efficient artificial intelligence (AI)-based solutions to tackle the main challenges in RIS-aided ultra-massive MIMO systems over THz channels.
- Disseminating results through scientific publications and conferences
- Preparing new research proposals to attract industrial, national, and European projects.
- Providing assistance in the supervision of PhD students.

**Your Profile...**:

- A PhD degree in Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science/engineering with a focus on wireless communications.
- International postdoc experience is desirable.
- Sound publication track record in relevant international conferences and top journals in the following research areas (at least one IEEE Transaction publication is mandatory):

- Multi-antenna signal processing, e.g. beamforming/precoding.
- Radio resource management, e.g. power/bandwidth allocation, interference suppression, user scheduling.
- RIS-aided networks and/or THz communications.
- Experience with a number of optimization tools and typical convexification strategies.
- Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence is highly desirable.
- Strong programming skills in MATLAB. Python, JULIA and C++ are desirable but not mandatory.
- Experience of working with industrial projects or public funded research projects is highly desirable.
- Highly committed, excellent team-worker, and strong critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
