Job Description:

Médecins sans Frontières - MSF Luxembourg is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the position of Scientific Manager. This role will play a crucial part in defining and designing the Foundation's activities, ensuring alignment with its strategic objectives.

About the Role:

This full-time position is based in Luxembourg and involves working closely with the General Director of MSF Luxembourg. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and leading the Foundation's strategic planning, as well as organizing debates and scientific discussions within the MSF Movement and the broader humanitarian community.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Planning: Develop a comprehensive strategy to support operational research (OR) with LuxOR and other operational research entities within the MSF movement. This includes consulting with stakeholders, understanding strategic issues surrounding OR, making proposals for action, and supporting decision-making processes.
  • Project Management: Coordinate the organization of debates, scientific discussions, and events in Luxembourg and within the MSF Movement. Act as an ambassador of operational research to the Luxembourg humanitarian and scientific community.
  • Training and Development: Promote training opportunities in operational research and epidemiology, including fellowships, operational research training, and researcher exchanges.
Requirements:
  • A Master's degree or equivalent professional experience in a medical or scientific field
  • Degree or experience in public health is an asset
  • MSF experience or experience with another international NGO of similar size is strongly preferred
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills in French and English
  • Proactive, autonomous, and rigorous
  • Versatile and flexible

Benefits:
  • A competitive salary between 49,500€ and 60,000€ per year, depending on experience
  • A fixed-term contract under Luxembourg law, full-time (40 hours/week), for a period of 1 year, with a 6-month trial period
