**EIF Posting**:
The **European Investment Fund** (EIF) is seeking to recruit for its **Innovation and Technology** **Investments** (“ITI”) department, Equity Investments and Guarantees (“EIG”) at its headquarters in **Luxembourg, **a **Trainee - Digital Economy Data Intelligence.**

Duration: five (4) months & Starting date: 1st June 2023

**_ Specific Post Environment:_**

You will be part of the Digital Economy (“DE”) competence center in EIF’s Innovation and Technology Investments ("ITI") department, Equity Investments and Guarantees ("EIG").

The DE team is in charge of (i) sourcing, screening and closing commitments in European digital economy VC funds; (ii) monitoring the digital economy equity portfolio of EIF and related monitoring duties to EIF stakeholders and (iii) ensuring relevant market intelligence tasks in the specific digital economy theme in Europe.

**_ Overall objective:_**

You shall:

- Get a good understanding of EIF digital economy investing strategy;
- Leverage on the existing EIF databases of European venture capital funds to extract meaningful measures/indicators that can support internal decision making;
- Analyse EIF’s data and format such data in a way that can be shared with external stakeholders (VC investors, entrepreneurs, policy makers);
- Automate the above processes so that the analysis can be performed periodically with minimum maintenance.

These tasks shall be performed under the supervision of a Principal/Senior Investment Manager within DE / ITI and DE Head of Unit.

**_ Responsibilities:_**

Under the guidance of the Head of Unit, you shall:

- Define a comprehensive set of measures/indicators calculated from the existing EIF database of Digital Economy VC funds;
- Reflect this consolidated set of indicators in EIF management information system and any other relevant reports for internal use and external sharing;
- Ensure market intelligence on the European Digital Economy ecosystem, including the generation of data points that can be shared with the ecosystem**_. _**

**_Expected outcome:_**

You shall contribute to:

- Improve access to EIF ‘s strategic digital economy data by automating recurrent queries to EIF´s databases;
- Develop and maintain a data insights platform of the European digital economy portfolio data using existing IT tools (Excel and/or Tableau) with relevant measures/indicators that can support internal decision making;
- Based on the analysis of EIF’s databases, contribute to the generation of data charts (Excel and/or PowerPoint) that can be used to spread the knowledge on the venture capital industry among internal and external stakeholders.

**_ Qualifications:_**

University degree (or on-going studies at an advanced stage) in economics, finance or other relevant social sciences degree.

**_ Competencies:_**

Key Competencies required:

- Good analytical, drafting and synthesis skills;
- Fluency in English; knowledge of further EU languages considered an asset;
- Strong interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work productively;
- Demonstrate initiative, capability to work autonomously under given objectives and organise own work efficiently under time pressure.
- Basic understanding of EIF´s products;
- Some knowledge and understanding of EIF’s mission and activities;
- Basic knowledge of the venture capital / private equity sector and equity investments.
