**EIF Posting**:
The **European Investment Fund** (EIF) is seeking to recruit for its** Secondaries Unit of the Equity Investments and Guarantees Department**,** **at its headquarters in **Luxembourg, **a **Trainee.**

Duration: 5 months & Starting date: September 2023

Specific Post Environment: _**

You will operate within the Private Equity sector, across the segments of Secondaries market operations (buy
- and sell-side) and be involved in the valuation of the Business Angels co-investment program.

**_ Overall objective:_**

Your overall objective will be to:

- Actively assist both the Secondaries and the Valuation teams at EIF in the development of a comprehensive, reliable and accurate database. The database will contain essential company and fund level data carefully selected for valuation purposes;
- Actively support the Valuation team in their efforts to develop effective tools for valuation benchmarking and comprehensive market analysis.

**_ Responsibilities_**:
Under the guidance of the senior of the team, you shall:

- Gather qualitative and quantitative information on private equity funds, Business Angels and companies from a diverse range of data sources;
- Assist the Valuation team in developing back testing model, analyse portfolio returns and conduct comparative valuation of investments that fall under the same asset class, location and industry by creating Pitchbook reports;
- Assist the Valuation team with the annual depositary exercise for the Business Angels investments.

**_ Expected outcome:_**
- Further development and improvement of existing databases;
- Work with and improve financial models;
- Gain expertise in the private equity / secondary market and in asset valuation.

**_ Qualifications:_**
- University degree (or on-going studies at advanced stage) in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related disciplines;
- Post-graduate qualifications would be a distinct advantage;
- ACCA or similar professional qualification would be a distinct advantage.
- Strong understanding of Excel and capacity to utilise and develop complex financial valuation models;
- Interest in data related workflows;
- Good financial analysis skills, with a particular focus on company fundamental analysis, valuation and pricing (Multiples, DCF, comparables, etc.);
- Ideally familiar with CapitalIQ, Orbis or similar financial databases;
- Excellent knowledge of English (oral and written); any additional EU language will be an advantage.

**_ Competencies:_**
- Prior related working experience (including traineeships) would be an advantage.
- Pro-active working approach, ability to organise her/his work, ability to set priorities and meet deadlines;
- Interest in company valuation, financial models, and the private equity sector;
- Problem solving approach and initiative;
- Excellent team spirit;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills;
- Very good interpersonal skills.
