We have an immediate opening for a**:Materials Scientist (f/m/x)**

The Glass Competence Center (GCC) Innovation Lab, has a forward-looking focus that supports the global development of new automotive high-tech glass products. Working with our Global GCC partners, the lab's primary responsibility is to prototype, test, and demonstrate feasibility for development and release of new ideas, concepts, and products per the input from the Product Owners. The Innovation Lab provides the early proof of concept simulation and/or testing necessary to fast-track program feasibility and identify potential risk.

**Role:
- Drive expert opinion to understand issues related to material behavior including microstructure, optics, stress, and failure mode. Partner with Product Development Engineers on best project outcomes.
- Based on customer requirements, devise standards, Product Verification Plans and best in class procedures for prototype testing of novel ideas/concepts. This may include technologies such as coating, laminations, electronics, and associated assemblies.
- Using state of the art lab equipment, critically analyze test results to understand true product behavior at the material level and then make informed recommendations for product improvement. This includes clear & concise technical reports.
- Through work with GCC team or beyond, participate on benchmarking and IP generation, being first to market.
- Participate in University/RTO outreach and co-development programs, coordinate their execution. Grow as a team member with industry trade organizations, as well as consumer groups.
- Support GCC product owners and developers as a Materials Expert so our teams establish Trusted Advisor partnerships with our key customers or suppliers. As technical spokesman, guide dissemination of state-of-the-art materials developments such that we have pre-emptive insight of our development pipeline.
- Provide planning for the adoption of the latest methods and test equipment in the industry to guarantee a holistic development strategy from the onset.
- Active member of establishing Innovation Framework to screen and rank ideation on the Front End, as well as provide Stage Gate deliverables.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Profile**:

- MS or PhD degree with expertise in glass/ceramics or organic materials, adhesives, and bonding. (PhD preferred).
- Experience in a Glass Research setting preferred.
- 5+ years experience in a scientist position.
- Valid driver’s license required for business travel.
- English language, French and German are an asset.
- Builds trust with key customers/suppliers.
- Mentoring lab staff as well as global development teams.
- Subject Matter Expert with Hands-On skill sets that drives root cause resolution on:

- Glass & Ceramics.
- Or organic materials, adhesives, and bonding.
- Self-starter with bias to take ownership of projects.
- Thinks in terms of customers & end-users.
- Creativity, determination to analyze root causes, solution focused research.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
