**What we do**:
The Depositary function is a specialist provider of fiduciary services to UCITS, Non UCITS and AIFMD Fund Structures. The core responsibility of the depositary is to act solely in the interest of the investor, to hold in safekeeping the assets of the investment funds and provide oversight on the activities of the scheme.

The custody oversight team are a pan-European team responsible for the appointment and ongoing monitoring of all custody delegation arrangements both within BNY Mellon’s network and with third party providers. The team is also responsible for reviewing and coordinating ongoing incidents related to asset safety and provide expertise to support the business.
- Prepare and maintain custody oversight review schedules under the direction of the Head of Custody Oversight.
- Assist in the ongoing enhancement of the custody oversight framework
- Complete the scheduled reviews according to the planned schedule and aligned to the current procedures and policies.
- Prepare and provide regular key risk / performance indicators and other relevant management information in relation to the ongoing monitoring of the sub-custodian network. Escalate any urgent matters to the attention of management.
- Maintain an efficient and robust process around managing ongoing market incidents / issues/ concerns and overseeing / monitor the situation proactively.
- Assist in analysing regulatory and market trends / changes to determine potential risks to the safekeeping of assets and presenting proposals on how to mitigate risks across businesses.
- Operate with a high degree of independence, conduct analyses and lead the programme to align with both regulations and internal control standards.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of meaningful tracking metrics for management reporting and escalation.
- Participate in regular service review meetings where required
- Strengthen and enhance the control environment by challenging current processes and recommending control enhancements as needed.
- Provide and participate in cross training with colleagues where necessary.
- Represent custody oversight team at internal governance forums/councils when required.
- Assist in any ad hoc tasks as requested.

**Experience & Qualifications**:
**Minimum Educational Requirements**:

- Third level qualification preferably in business/legal related / accounting / finance discipline.
- Fluent in English

**Essential Skills**:

- Ability to identify key operational risk issues, to summarise them efficiently, and to escalate them in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Ability to establish strong interpersonal relationships, confident communicating at all levels with key decision makers in the departments across locations.
- Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy
- Ability to prioritise, multi-task and work under time pressure

**Essential Knowledge**:

- 5-7 years of total work experience is preferred.
- Global Custody experience is preferred.
- D etailed knowledge of UCITS/ AIFMD fund structures and associated regulatory obligations.
- Knowledge of prime brokers and sub-custodians preferred.
- A good understating of the organisational landscape and culture is desirable.
