**Position Summary**
We are seeking to hire a Senior Accountant to join our Luxembourg Finance team.
Working closely with the Finance Director based in Luxembourg and with the broader finance team across different locations, the senior accountant will be mainly responsible for the regulatory and statutory reporting for CNA Hardy European subsidiary (“CICE”).
Because of the small size of the team in Luxembourg, other ad-hoc activities will be part of the role. The holistic approach of the role offers opportunities for further development.
Supporting the external audit process is a key component of the role as well as overall involvement in all the accounting finance topics for the entity and its branches.
CICE writes in excess of €200 million in gross written premium through six countries: Belgium, Denmark, France, Italy, Germany & The Netherlands. CNA Hardy offers a broad spectrum of products and services across the Property, Casualty, Marine and Specialty classes. Products are tailored to meet the needs of customers, large to small, in the following industry segments: Construction, Energy, Financial Institutions, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Professional Services and Technology.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Prepare regulatory returns for CICE
- Solve queries from regulators in relation to reports submitted
- Support production of the annual accounts
- Support the production of the CICE SFCR and other regulatory documents
- Maintain adequate controls in line with group policies and SOX requirements, including year-end SOX testing
- Comply with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements and ensure, at a level appropriate to the position that appropriate measures are in place to ensure this compliance
- May perform additional duties as assigned
- Work effectively with Finance teams in London, Norwich and the operational teams in the branches. Act as a point of contact for any query in regards to reporting performed or to be performed
- Work effectively with all other teams within the company (Risk, investments, actuarial )
- Participate in internal projects or initiatives related to Finance
- Drive and steer the operational aspects of the annual statutory audit. Gather documentation as requested by auditors. Answer queries and escalate to Management issues. Liaise with other departments when necessary to obtain documentation or input for the audit process
**Skills, Knowledge & Experience**
- Experienced accountant (minimum 5 years)
- Good understanding of insurance accounting and interest in insurance
- Demonstrated understanding of business objectives and the market in which we operate
- Intellectual curiosity. Proposals of process improvements
- Demonstrate good analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Excellent command of English and French
- Advanced Excel user skills. Used to manage large amounts of data
- Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize work effectively. Capacity to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to work in a regulated environment, adhering to external and internal guidelines
